Volume loss on face, eyes, cheeks & above lip

BBL Hero & Moxi - Extreme Volume Loss

Creative966764
I had BBL Hero then Moxi on face, then Moxi on high around the eyes, right cheek and above lip. Even though the skin around eye is very thin, I trusted the instructor who walked in midway through the procedure and offered to do my eyes after but on “high”. Around day 7 my outer eyes dropped dramatically then within 2 days my entire face deflated, aging me 10-15 years. I’m no longer a candidate for Botox on my forehead because of how significantly the brow dropped (which is gonna add another five years on). Sciton (maker of laser) says it doesn’t go deep enough to cause pad loss but I found many reports online with the exact same outcome. Unfortunately, the girl who did my face had just been trained and made some pretty big mistakes letting the skin get too hot. But the instructor who did my eyes should’ve known better, so the fat loss is from the machine. The fat pads around my eyes are completely disintegrated leaving me with saggy skin above the eye and huge hollowed out area underneath that fills with fluid now, along with my right cheek flattened and above my lips collapsed which were done on high (my eye lines on the right side went down over the cheek so she did those in addition). The rest of my face had BBL and Moxi and suffered volume loss as well but not to the extent of my eye area. My eyes, smile and jawline are all completely different now from the saggy skin. I went from looking 40 to mid 50’s overnight and it didn’t even take away the hyperpigmentation or make my skin any better (I did see a glow around day 5 but that quickly disappeared), I got zero benefit. I remained swollen and around week five I took steroids and that’s when the brow dropped even more causing severe daily migraines as the muscles in my forehead struggled to hold up the brow so I could see. I could only use my eyes a couple hours a day until I train the muscles in my forehead. In order to look forward, drive etc. I have to have my forehead in a surprised expression causing muscle tension pain causing me to be bedridden for 12 weeks. As stated before I am no longer Botox candidate because those muscles have to engage for me to be able to see now, and with the excess forehead skin that used to be tight, it looks even worse.
I’m absolutely devastated and cry every day and this was three months ago. My face is ruined. Do not do these lasers! I’ve done the best I can with photos considering they’re different light and angles but even lightning and angles can not account for this kind of difference.

Thank you for this! I just had my first IPL Photofacial done and my dermatologist is telling me I should do the Moxie Laser. Did you have BBL and moxie done at the same time? Or were they done separately and how far apart?

They were done at the same time.

Had you had filler before this treatment?
December 31, 2022
No, I had light Botox in my forehead only.

I'm sorry this happened to you, in your case I think it's safe to say that it's not really the machine at fault but rather the providers, as you recognized that they were not qualified and used a setting that's too high, I've done broad band light and they are supposed to gel your skin and cover your eyes and not put heat anywhere near your under eyes.

I know it’s an old thread but when did you notice changes, was it right away? Weeks later? Months? Has it improved at all since?
I’m SO sorry you’ve gone through this. It broke my heart

I don't know if there is anyone checking this thread, but I thought I may be able to leave advice. A fat transfer is an option, but you need someone really good.

I'd recommend Dr. Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. He's one of the best doctor's I ever dealt with. I haven't spoke to him for at least 6 years.

I left a review for him a few years ago. He really helped me.

Be very careful about the practitioner when doing a facial fat transfer.

There is a cream called Adipeau that I've heard good things about. I have heard it helps add volume to the face. Maybe this information help someone.

Hello, I do check the thread as I get notified whenever someone leaves a comment. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and the recommendation, I’ll look into both of them.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I"m genuinely really sad that this happened to you. I had been considering, but now no. There's a new BBL Heroic out recently that is meant to be foolproof for providers newly trained....the settings are already recalibrated. However, I don't think I'll risk it now...fat loss in the face nobody wants this.

Jaw line before

Creative966764
This was my jawline before the picture I previously uploaded I had cropped my chest out of him for some reason when I uploaded cut the bottom of my jaw off. As time goes on the fat loss continues to get greater and greater and I believe it was because the skin got too hot.

Moxi Ruined my Eyes

Creative966764

Laser instructor Aaron came into the room and offered to do my eyes with Moxi, when asked what settings she would use she said none I’m just gonna put it on high. There’s no documentation in my paperwork about this so that’s all the information I have about Settings. Everywhere she did on high completely ate the fat pads under my face, Causing severe volume loss with skin hangover eyes impeding vision causing severe headaches daily. On bedrest for three months hoping it would heal with no change. Do not do this Laser!

Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to her. There are bad doctor, like every profession, that don't know how to use these devices properly. Everyone's skin reactions differently to these treatments. We are are all different genetically and respond to trauma differently.

The commenter above created their profile and only ever made two comments on realself - both on my posts all on the same day. I assume its someone from the dr's office. I appreciate you allowing me to speak my truth.

How insensitive of you. Good for you if you like it. No reason to say she's being untruthful about it. Not everyone has the same experience and she is obviously suffering from the damages of it.

I’m having a similar issue. The first two treatments I thought were great. But since the last one I’ve had noticeable eye bags. I’ve been checked by a doctor for sinus infection, allergist for allergies, dermatologist for any dermatitis/skin allergy and nothing. Only thing I think it can be is the Moxi since they appeared right after healing from the session.
Have you found anything that helps with this? :(

Any laser that penetrates the skin and heats it up can cause volume loss like this. Very few doctors that perform laser procedures will admit to it though. It is a conflict of interest for them to admit it can happen. I had the same thing happen to me with a CO2 laser.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. She should never have been allowed to operate a laser.
