6 weeks post op

Still in considerable amount of pain. I'm standing up straight now but I have bad stinging on my sides. It also feels like my muscles on the sides are tearing if I hyper-extend or put myself in a different position. My lower back still has swelling as well as my sides and stomach. It gets worse if I sit down to long or lay on my back at all. Some days its bearable, other days I have to take actual pain meds. I don't have any left from my regular doctor. I have been using other alternate methods (ice packs, warm packs, still using spanx, physical therapy) but it has been a struggle. I really hope I start to feel normal soon. It's making me kind of depressed- I'm not even that happy even though my results are good because I'm always in pain.

I recently flew into FL to have my procedures done...

I recently flew into FL to have my procedures done by Dr. Miami. I had my appt scheduled a year in advance. I used the recommended recovery home, Elite Nursing Concierge. Overall, my interactions with both the recovery home and the dr.s office were very good. His staff was very attentive. Mary's ladies took very good care of me. I don't have very many complaints. PROs - the doctor gave me real expectations as far as my results. I'm only 2 wks post op right now however I look exactly how I expected I would based on my weight and wish photos and his comments. - the post op nurse has been checking In with me often and reminding me of things I've forgotten or otherwise did not know. - the procedure was affordable in comparison to other surgeons performing this; even including travel and recovery home costs. - Mary and her staff; can't say enough nice things about them. I had a very hard time in recovery and they were very accommodating and understanding. - the Dr. Was very down to earth and answered all of my questions. CONs - it was very hard to get in contact with his office before my surgery date. They have a lot of clientele so if you're looking for a more personalized experience from start to finish, this may not be the clinic for you. - I absolutely loved the recovery home with the exception of the recliner. It was older and very stiff. I understand they probably need to get what they can afford but considering the patients they are dealing with (majority need to be in the recliners 24/7) they may want to invest in some more comfortable ones. It could also be a matter of the bodily fluids and stuff getting on their furniture- that was really my only issue with the recovery home. It's very possible this is the same type of furniture you'll be in at any other place as well. - I think because the doc has such a high clientele, he doesn't like to write additional prescriptions for pain meds. The one you get pre-op is literally only good for 3 days if you take them as prescribed. Any time I brought up pain medication it was like the elephant in the room or no one wanted to hear it. He did not give me additional Rx when I left either even though I was visibly in a lot of pain. They did give me sleep and anxiety meds but those have not been effective as the pain has outweighed the strength of both meds. The reason I elected that I'm not sure if it was worth it is because I've had such a difficult recovery; mostly due to the pain. My pain has not been below a 6 since I got home. I've had BA & TT 5 years ago and the recovery was nothing like this. The post op was horrific; I was very sick and could not eat for an entire week. From what I'm told, most girls didn't recover as bad as I did. But I think it's important for everyone to know it is possible to have a much slower recovery than others. I was mildly active prior to surgery and in good health. So I don't think it was a matter of my health standing. This experience so far though has been bad because I've been in a lot of pain. My last surgeon was much more concerned with my 'sensitivity to surgery' as he explained it; so he helped me with pain management between meds and physical therapy. This time I just feel like there's so many clients, the doc can't risk giving out so many Rx's. He didn't seem like he didn't care I just think it's a matter of his clientele volume. I understand but it's making it a terrible recovery for me.
