I'm sure many of you guys can attest that going to a doctor's office is not the most pleasant thing to do nor do we look forward to one. We will find the dumbest excuse not to go to an appointment; like I have to wash my car (when it's raining outside). But let me assure you, Dr. Lay is more a friend than a doctor. Shoot, he introduces himself as Chase from time to time. On top of that, he ACTUALLY LISTENS TO YOU and WANTS to know about your goals. And best of all, he does not sale you anything you do not need. Let's put it this way, I'm sounding more like a salesman right now than he will be. Any who, let's move on. I had Asian Upper Eyelid surgery with Dr. Lay on March 18th 2017. I had only right eye operated on to match my left. I naturally had a crease on my left eye but a monolid on my right. In my case, Dr. Lay felt that since I am still relatively young, I didn't have to operate on both eyes to make them age the same rate. His approach for me was what is called a "hybrid technique". This is where half the surgery was Suture Technique and the other half was Incision Technique. He did suture technique on my inner corners and than made an incision on the outer half of my lid. This also means I have permenant sutures in my inner corners. Now I know everyone says they are afraid of needles, but trust me when I say, I am your worse nightmare when it comes to them. And I can tell you this for sure, the shots to get numbed up for the procedure was not that bad. I think going to the dentist is worse. Of course I felt the first couple pokes (getting pinched lightly hurts more) but after the 2-3 shot, I was pretty much numbed. It did feel weird though having my eyelid loaded with anesthetics. They felt heavy, "flipped inside out" , watery, and pretty hard to open. With my eyelids closed and music in the background, I had no idea what was going on. He came back into the OR and started talking about random stuff with me. I was confused because I was like the conversation is interesting but when are we starting? Dr. Lay answered by we started 5 mins ago already. Before I knew it, we were talking, gossiping and laughing like a bunch kids and boom, we were finished. After the surgery, I got cleaned up and iced up to keep the swelling and bruising down. The pain level was very minimal to none (I also do not have a high pain tolerance). It was just throbbing for a couple hours and a couple Tylenol helped with that. I was able to see and drive home afterwards. By the next morning, I felt physically fine. My right eye just looked like I took a couple good hits from Mayweather. I am not a very private person so it was a easy recovery for me. I went out to see friends and family, shopping, took my dog out, etc. I even went to work the next day and so forth. After 7 days, I had my stitches removed and I've been enjoy my new eyelid ever since. From the consultation to the surgery, every step of the way was smooth, informative, and enjoyable. My aunt even booked a surgery with Dr. Lay after she saw mines. My best advice for everyone on here looking into this type of surgery is: see someone who specializes in Asian Eyelid Surgery (i.e. Dr. Lay, who does Asian Eyelid Surgery 2-4 times a day 5 days a week). Please feel free to contact me on here if you and questions about this type of surgery. I will try my best to reply asap and help you prepare for it if you do decide to do it. P.S. sorry for the repetition in my videos. I don't a lot of selfie videos of me talking so don't mind the weirdness haha
