I had a modified mini tummy tuck x 2 months ago. I did it initially because I always look pregnant and would get asked. I'd gained 60 pounds with the twins but was back to my original weight, 115 lbs, not even a year later. The residual fat and resulting diastasis recti was very apparent. I worked out 5 days a week and had not seen any results x 2 years later and so I decided to get a consult. My PS told me that he believed I was a good candidate for a modified mini tummy tuck where muscles would be repaired from the sternum down. Of course I wanted a smaller scar, so i went ahead and did it. I knew at 5 weeks, although that is early, that something didn't look right. I have a lot of loose skin above my belly button and under my breast. I still also look pregnant. I have another follow up in September I believe and am not confident that this will not have to be redone. I'm more worried about the muscle repair than anything. I would like some advice based on the pics i'm putting up about the muscle plication and if I'm worrying too early or what. I know based on the loose skin alone, i'll have to have a revision but know the recovery will be MUCH better without having to re repair the muscles again. I'm hoping i don't have to and that this is just swelling. Please give me some advice. I won't mention the Doctor because, I'm only 2 months post and maybe it'll get better. He is a super nice guy, and i'm just wanting some more advice. I'm getting more depressed everyday b/c of having to wait and not seeing any improvement and still feeling that my stomach almost looks the same as it did before except my belly button looks distorted, and now there is loose skin.

My story feels very similar to yours. I'm now one year post op from a modified tummy tuck with muscle repair and do not feel it was successful. I'm still in the process of getting some answers, but after getting three other second opinions from plastic surgeons, it sounds like I will just need a full tummy tuck if I want to see improvement.

You're still fairly early in the healing process, so I hope this isn't the case for you. But from what you're saying, it's all the same thoughts and concerns I had in the beginning. I'm sorry you're going through this! It's been a frustrating/depressing process so far for me, so I can imagine it has been for you as well.

I also had the same situation. I had an extended mini 7 months ago. I knew after 8 weeks that it didn't look like a tummy tuck should. I went and had a second opinion and he agreed that a full tummy tuck should of been performed. He wanted me to wait an entire year before having it again. I contacted the surgeon who did the procedure and told him I was not satisfied and he should of done a full tummy tuck. I'm now scheduled to go in for a redo and he's performing a full tummy tuck minus his fee. I also went thru depression about it, but I didn't go thru all of the pain and money to look like this! Contact your surgeon now. It's obvious that you should of had a full tummy tuck.

Did you ask to see any before after pics of any revisions that he's done? I'm worried now about having a super high scar and then of course, him not being snake to fix the muscle repair or say I have a lot of fat under the muscles. Can you post some pics once you have your revision done of the before and after?

Being able to I mean. I read that a revision surgery is a lot harder to do from a mini to a full and that it really takes a lot of experience of the PS to be able to do one.

I think its to early, they say to wait 3 to 6 months. From what I have read anything can be fixed just relax and focus on healing. I need a revision as my bb was pulled to low but I don't have enough tissue. It looks like u will be able to get it fixed if u don't like it. Ps doesn't look bad to me

I'm sorry! I just saw your comment. The first week is really painful to move. I started walking around a little easier on the second week. I first started walking on the treadmill at about the 3rd week but couldn't really exercise until about 2 months and slowly got back into it. Your doc will give you the ok as far as exercising. Listen to your body. If it hurts to move at all, don't do it. I remember the incline sit up bench and attempting that at a few months in. I still can't do it because of a weird pain in my left side. I'm not sure if one of the sutures came out or if I have a hernia or what. The doctor gave me the go ahead for exercising at that point and said the scar tissue should have formed. Just take it easy! When is your TT scheduled?
