Being a Dr. myself I hate to say such strong...

Being a Dr. myself I hate to say such strong opinions about another Dr., but Dr. Teague has ruined my life. 5 yrs ago I saw him for a lower blepharoplasty to correct a tear trough deformity. Dr. Teague made this seem like such an easy procedure and never explained to me the negative risks involved. I blame myself for going to see him in the first place, but the truth is that Dr. Teague is very inexperienced in this type of procedure and should have referred me to an oculoplastic surgeon instead of taking this on himself. An important part of being a good doctor is knowing when to refer. If he had simply referred me to a specialist, he could have saved me all the hurt, anger, regret, and guilt that I haven't been able to let go of. I am still searching for someone who can correct his mistake. Please go somewhere else and save yourself the sadness of making a mistake you cannot take back.

I am so saddened to read about your experience. It is good advice you are offering to seek out a specialist who does hundreds of procedures each year of the type you are considering. I hope that you find an oculoplastic surgeon experienced in revisional surgery who can fix the mistakes your first surgeon made, and that you will eventually love your eyes.

Thank you. I do have hope but am now aware that you can't always believe what doctors are trying to sell you. After all it is a business. When I went for my follow up I expressed my concerns and he brushed them off. While I was waiting on copies of my records I overheard the woman in the next consult room also asking for her operative reports which only means she also was seeking out someone to fix what he did. Please stay away from this man!

i just want you to know that just because someone is an occuplastic surgeon does not mean he knows what he is doing. perhaps you would be better off finding someone who specializes in revisions, especially of the lower lid. Posting pictures is the best way to tell your story also. Pictures do not lie, especially pre op and post op photos taken by your surgeon himself. do you have any photos? i hope you are able to remedy this situation.

I feel terrible for you! Five years is a long time to feel that way. I am considering a blepharoplasty but I don't even know where to start. It all seems so risky and, if something goes wrong, there seems little support. The psychological impact of an unsuccessful blepharoplasty seem devastating. I'm afraid. How are you going with your search for a revision surgeon?

You learn to cope, but I still have bad days where I don't want to leave the house. I've picked out a revision surgeon, I'm just still terrified of waking up looking like a monster again. I'm not sure I can deal with that again. I wouldn't recommend this type of surgery. There are more bad results than good and definitely don't go to just anyone. I would try to focus on what you love about yourself and try to forget anything else. I wish I wouldn't have focused so much on what I didn't like. It took ruining my face for me to realize I was perfect before. It's a mistake you can't take back. Good luck.

I am in the same situation as SadieBee. My lower lids were ruined by hyaluronidase which was used to dissolve five year old filler (without my consent). Her description of her lower lids becoming much looser and saggier after the filler was dissolved is exactly what happened to me. I already look like a monster. I already wear fake glasses to cover the damage. I already have days where I can't bear to leave the house so I do not have as much to lose as someone who is starting from baseline. Thank you for your response and your excellent advice. I will take it on board. I am in Australia so my choice of surgeon is more limited than the US. I am considering Dinesh Selva in Adelaide. I hope your surgery goes brilliantly and the last five years are erased. Please post a review. Best of luck to you.

I have also considered fake glasses! I can only pray that there is hope for people like us and am thankful that some people dedicate their careers to this so that revision is an option. I will post an update. Thank you and good luck to you too!

I highly recommend the fake glasses. After the dissolving disaster, my very thoughtful Mum got them for me. The rims go right across the tear trough area. They have really helped with confidence, especially at work under those bloody awful overhead fluorescent lights!

Hi, Alic have you found a surgeon to fix ur lower lid retraction?
March 12, 2014
WOW! So sorry to hear of your experience -- and thanks for the warning! Be blessed! :-)

What type of problems did you have? I had mine done in the same practice by dr dean and have had horrible results as well. I saw that you tried a revision. What did you try?

I had lower lid retraction, scleral show, rounded outer corners, and a weird bunching of muscle and skin when I smiled. I saw a specialist for a revision and he did a horizontal shortening on one side and canthoplasty on the other side. I later found out that horizontal shortening actually makes retraction worse and the canthoplasty won't hold without added support. I finally saw two other specialists in Beverly Hills and both said I would need a hard palate graft, midface lift, and canthoplasty to correct the problem. I'm just too terrified to go through this again.

That's exactly what I have with like a scooped out hollow underneath where he wiped out all of my fat. He made incisions on the outside which I wasn't told about and have wing type scars in addition. I have dry eyes also and cloudiness over one eye and have a constant feeling that something is in my eyes. I was sold this on the premise that it was a simple straight forward "procedure" too and it would have no effect on my eyes and just tighten the skin. What a huge lie. Did you have any faith in the doctors in Beverly Hills? That's where I am now. I was going to schedule a consult with massry and groth.
August 18, 2014
I did. I saw Massry and Shorr and will probably end up choosing Massry once I can build up the courage to have another surgery. Groth's before and afters look good also. Good luck! Please keep me posted on what you end up doing.

Hi AliC! All those feelings u mentioned above describes exactly the way I feel towards the "Dr" who did my botched surgery on my once perfect eyes no scars or bags under my eyes, only hooded upper lids. He also made it sound like it was a simple procedure, n I fall for it. Even tough it's being 12long yrs I still feel hurt, anger, regret n guilt that I haven't been able to let go of. This "dr" doesnt have any ethic or experience on eyelids he butchered my eyelids.

I'm sorry for your bad experience. It's disappointing that so many doctors are out there doing procedures that should be done by a specialist. Definitely the biggest mistake of my life.

I too had a nightmare experience with Dr Teague. In April '07 he did a lower blepharoplasty. The plan was to remove only excess fat. He promised he was not removing any skin because I didn't have saggy skin in the lower lid area. So what did he do? He removed skin. I had complications from the very beginning. It was devastating, the way I looked was horrifying. And he truly didn't care. He kept blowing me off. He said it would improve over time but it was obvious that it wasn't going to get better. I flew to Los Angeles to see Dr Jonathan Hoenig, a revision specialist. He said I had one of the worst cases of etropion he'd ever seen. The lower eyelids were so pulled down that I had to tape them up into a higher position with surgical tape for the next 6 months in order to keep the eyes from drying out. After the 6 months were up Dr Hoenig did the revision----hard palate grafts and eyes sewn shut and upward traction by anchoring the stitches to the eyebrows. It was a lot to go through. After 7 days the eyes were opened and the traction released. I had no complications.

Dr Teague should not be doing cosmetic eye procedures of any kind. In fact, I question his ability to perform any cosmetic procedures. I contacted a personal injury lawyer in Baton Rouge because I wanted Dr Teague to at least pay for my revision surgery. The lawyer told me it's just about impossible to sue a doctor in Louisiana due to their medical review panel system. He also confided in me that another woman had contacted him, also asking him to sue Dr Teague. He said Dr Teague did a horribly botched breast augmentation on the woman. Her nipples were lopsided, the breasts were unsymmetrical, the implants in the wrong place. I'm not sure I'd trust any plastic surgeon in Baton Rouge. It's an overgrown cow-town. Go to New York, Houston, Los Angeles, or some other large metropolitan city, but try to stay away from Baton Rouge.
