I have been contemplating a BR for about 17 years and just recently mustered up enough courage to schedule consultations. It seems every year my breast cup jumps up a letter. As with all large breasted women, I suffer from back, shoulder, and neck pain, and I have a hump on the back of my neck, which I had no idea was related until I began reading other's experiences on this site. Unfortunately, my health insurance doesn't cover the procedure so I'm paying completely out of pocket. I had consultations with two surgeons, one in Metairie and one in Baton Rouge, and I immediately felt comfortable with the Baton Rouge surgeon. After figuring out a way to pay for the procedure, I scheduled the surgery for August 27th, the earliest date available. My pre-op appointment is scheduled for August 6th. I am extremely anxious and nervous. I can't wait to finally get relief from this enormous weight on my chest. At the same time, I'm worried about possible complications and being dissatisfied with the results.

One of my major concerns is post-op weight loss. I've put on weight since giving birth to my daughter in November 2012, and my goal has always been to get into better shape. However, as most of you know, exercising is almost impossible due to my large breast and the pain they cause. The first surgeon I consulted with advised against losing 20 or more pounds after the procedure as the weight loss could cause sagging. I I definitely want don't want to have sagging after. Because of my fear, I am in overdrive to get fit. Does anyone have experience with weight loss post-op?

I am looking for forward to reading more of your experiences as well as sharing my own.

GO FOR IT I am the same size as YOU Check out my review I have tons of photos Make sure you take plenty before during and after photos HAPPY JOURNEY I was initially denied my insurance company had a clause it had to prove it was medical necessity and I proved it and it was over turned SO THRILLED ITS ON THE HEALING SIDE It is a life altering surgery for some I have had 4 neck surgerys 2 fused and 3 lumbar surgerys so I really needed the added weight off my chest 3 pounds between both of them : )

Thanks for the encouragement! My insurance policy specifically excludes BR no matter the medical necessity. Must be men making those decisions. Ha! I took a few before photos but I'm so depressed looking at them that I'm hesitant to post. Maybe I'll work up the courage as my surgery date gets nearer.

yes some insurances do exclude it but im not sure if you can buy other insurances that do cover it or if its no big deal Im sure others in your area would have the scoop on that good Luck to you !!!! And maybe paying out of pocket is ok with you Keep us updated on your journey!!

Hi, IBTC! I've also had four back surgeries and hoped my breast reduction would be a slam dunk with the insurance company so I'm interested in why they denied you!

It's an exclusion in my policy. They won't cover it regardless of medical necessity. They will, however, cover mastectomy.

They had a clause in policy it needed to deem medical necessity meaning I had to prove I needed it done!!!

I received a cal this morning from my PS's office. My surgery is being bumped up to August 6th. Yikes! Super nervous now. My pre-op is tomorrow and I am hoping my nerves are calmed down after.

hi! We have a lot in common! the same height and almost weight as you. I'm also trying to drop about 20 more. Provided it gets approved, I might schedule it a couple months later so I can lose more. What cup size do you hope to be afterwards?

I'm hoping for a C but my PC days it all depends on the blood vessels. His goal is to get me down small enough to provide some relief to my neck, back, and shoulders, but still maintain sensation.

I don't know if this helps but post op my appetite completely disappeared for a couple of weeks. I'm still not eating very much 2 weeks out and only seem to want to eat to eat really basic, simple food. Good luck for your surgery!

Thanks for the well wishes! I am hoping I can get back into a good exercise routine (with my PS's blessing, of course) once I have all this extra weight removed!
