Research well & choose your Surgeon wisely
I decided about 10 years ago that no one but Lisa Sacks would ever perform BR on me and I'm so pleased I chose her - she has been fantastic and really patient with me throughout the whole process since I first saw her around 3 years ago to make sure I was making the right decision at the right time for me. I highly recommend anyone in the UK considering a BR to see as she specialises in very large reductions by the Vertical scar method and has performed only this technique for many years. I do not know of any other PS in the South West of England who is capable of this large a reduction by this method and I extensively researched this - the majority of PS just do not have the experience. I spoke to 4 PS secretaries and was told they would not be able to do it by lollipop method as the max they would reduce by is 2 cup sizes and anything larger must be by the anchor method. I also asked how many of the lollipop procedures they carried out per year and the most was 15. Lisa Sacks performs in excess of 55 per year which spoke volumes to me as well as requesting her patients agree to attend follow up appointments for 10 years so she can monitor her work. It's worth noting I had a TT years ago and although I was extremely pleased with the result, I never saw my surgeon after discharge from hospital - not for any follow up appointment or any other reason which I found really strange as I did not understand why he did not want to check his work.
I guess I'm trying to say I'm really glad I did my research and did not hurry things. I think I was researching and just hoping and praying for a new scarless technique to be developed but I soon realised there is no such procedure out there no matter what people say and none are new to the market - PS simply do not perform them as they do not like the results. I found there is simply no surgery without scars. Even with minimal scarring on the donut/crescent nipple lift type and the nipple lift with under breast tucked in, looks quite good from the front but there is no actual projection from the side view of the breast and most of the surgeons do not show a side profile picture on their websites so be careful of this.
I had a list of questions to ask surgeons and hope the will help anyone considering a BR...
How many lollipop type Breast lifts or BR do you perform per year as opposed to the anchor type and what is the reason behind this
How large a BR can you confidently perform with this procedure and can you do it without a free nipple graft
How many revisions are needed per year for dog ears etc and what is the likely cost
Can you show me pictures of your BR patients and can I speak with any of your patients
Does your fee include any revision work that may be needed
Does your fee include an overnight stay in hospital
Does your fee include all follow up appointments
How many follow ups are included in the fee and what happens if things go wrong for me
Do you routinely use drains
Will I have a direct contact number for my surgeon after my op in case I need to ask or am worried about anything.
I needed all of these questions answered by each surgeon and it helped me a lot - many new members ask what questions to ask and I hope this helps x

4 days Post Op
Well I can breathe easier and feel a great deal lighter. My PS guessed right when she said she would be removing around 1.5lbs from each breast. I feel really small but I think that's just because I was exceptionally large at 32hh/j and at 5'2" it was ridiculous! I'm pretty confident I will end up a DD but to be perfectly honest I'm just really happy the bulk has gone. Funny as I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with my arms as without realising It, I spent a great deal of my time using them to hold my boobs in place either from the side or from underneath. Another member here likened it to TRex arms and I'm sure the larger ladies on this forum will relate to this.
The pain level has increased slightly and my PS text yesterday to see how I was and explained the pains were simply to do with healing and nerves and it's to be expected. It manageable and she said to keep on top of the pain. I get tired easily but think its usual with a GA.
Im so happy I had this done and my family have all said I look about a stone lighter already!

Pleased it all went to plan. I had mine on 7th April and recovery is going really well. I was a GG and am down to a small C, I had 3kg's in total removed from breasts -1600grms from one and 1400grms from the other. X x
Wow that's a really big reduction! What procedure did you have and are you fully recovered and have a good shape? Are you confident in a bikini/swimsuit and how are you with the scarring? Sorry a lot of questions x
Well.........I had BR with an anchor incision. I'm 9 weeks post op (I think - lost count) I had 3 weeks off work and I've recovered very well. Had a couple of areas that took a while to heal below each nipple but all's good now. I'm very happy with my shape (read my review for pics). I'm using Kelo Cote and Bio oil for scars and I'm happy with the way they are progressing. So far I've purchased 3 new swim suits and 2 bikinis for my sumner holiday....not worn a bikini in 20 years. I've also purchased 12 new bras since my procedure....it used to be a chore buying a bra now it's a delight. :). The best thing is that people (men) actually look at my face when they talk to me and I no longer feel the need to wear a scarf or cardi to cover up when I'm out in public.
I checked out your pics and you have a fab result - so natural and a lovely shape. I explained to my daughter my boobs were the reason I always refused to walk fast unless I was wearing a scarf - they just jiggled all over the place and it embarrassed me. How long before you could wear a wired bra? My surgeon insists on a sports bra day and night for 6 months I think although I will need to check it out.
My surgeon said I could wear an underwired bra at my 6 week check if I wanted, she said the pressure from the wires might even help to reduce the scarring. I wore a support bra 24/7 for the first 9 weeks (surgeon said I could go braless at night at my 6 week check), it's only been the last couple of nights that I've slept without a bra.
Its been quite depressing the past few years to go shopping for bras and swim wear. Im in the uk and there are very few places to shop for large sizes at a HH/J so most is done online with the usual disappointment of a poor fit. I have loads of bikinis and bras ready to go on eBay and I will donate all the proceeds to a Breast Cancer charity.
My sports bra is very comfortable so its no hardship to wear it all the time and it seems sensible what your surgeon said about the scar being helped by the underwire. Im 10 days post op and its not comfy without a bra so think Im going to need it for a good while - could be as I wanted to stay big at DD/E and they are still fairly heavy?
As the weeks go on the soreness will be less and less and going braless will be an option I'm sure. I've still got a sore area on my right side by my rib along the incision line, it even feels tender to touch and my boobs still feel a bit tender when I get out of the bed in the morning but It's still early days and although you may look good on the outside there's still a whole lot of healing to be done inside I guess x x
I had to laugh about T-Rex arms...when I was in college, I worked at the Gap, and I remember my manager and I would rest our boobs on the cash wrap counter when we were standing on the outside of it. After hours on our feet, the customers gone, our backs were so achy, we'd laugh as they were propped on the counter for relief. The guys didn't understand...
I know it's hilarious about the arms - must have spent whole time either holding them up or together! T-Rex arms swinging side to side is a funny vision LOL
