I initially decided to have surgery because I hated my nose. Nothing was dramatically wrong with it, but I became paranoid when talking to people or having my photo taken that that is what they were looking at. In the mirror I was obsessed with picking everything apart about my nose.
After contemplating it for awhile I started to look online. Now I am a VERY thorough person and did not take this research lightly. I was obsessive. I was not going to settle for a recommendation or who some company used, I was looking for the best. I basically looked at the Bumrungrad Hospital as it is the best. I was reviewing all their surgeons who specialise in Rhinoplasty and the review forums pointed me to Dr Montien. After researching him I found that he actually operates out of other hospitals and that is when I contacted Samitivej Srinakarin hospital directly. The price was okay, (Amazing compared to NZ) but the process was all very confusing. Thats when I found the company International Rejuvenation and after talking to Sam I decided to go through with the company instead of trying to navigate this new world by myself.
Let me make this clear though, had they not been using Dr Montien as their Rhinoplasty Surgeon, I would have not used the company. Not because of any lack on their performance, but just because I knew what was more important to me and that was having the RIGHT doctor. I guess this is me saying, don't choose the company before you choose the doctor, then find people willing to work with you and what you want. I guess the good thing about using the companies in Australia and NZ is that they will only use the better surgeons anyway, and for breasts I wouldn't have been so involved, however my nose is on my face.. So nothing related to this decision was taken lightly.
For my consult I met Dr M at Bumrungrad funnily enough and WOW, yes it is amazing and world class, but unless you have cash falling out of the sky.. why pay for something so luxurious.. Unless your flying first class to have the operations done, I assure you the other International hospitals will still exceed your expectations. Samitivej Srinakarin did for me. I guess its like choosing between a 4 or 5 star hotel when your currently living in 3 star standard at home.. whats the point. These places all exceed those clinics that perform the cheapest operations in NZ and AUS.
Anyway, let's talk about my experience. My consult was good. I walked in and Dr M asked which we should talk about first. Nose. Okay to I wanted it to be less wide (the whole way down), the tip to be refined, my deviated septum corrected and my hump removed. He asked if I wanted a slope or straight, I said slight slope but I know my answer was so uncertain that on that point, he just did what he thought was best. If you are sure and certain, he will listen, if you don't really know.. he will try clarify and show you some pictures to try understand your perception on what a "slightly slope" is. For consult of the boobs, he was patient. I was travelling alone and didn't have a sounding board for what decision to make. He stood there for about 30 mins with me uhm'ing and ahh'ing before we decided he would prepare both sizes and I would tell him before I went under tomorrow. He said I could go over the muscle with the amount of tissue I had but decided against that as I was after the look. He was worried about my gymming and the placement restricting me however said usually that the biggest effect is they can move funny while exercising. I finally decided on Dual place, 275cc Moderate plus implants. I was a 10B or very deflated 10C going into it and am now around a 10DD-12DD (sometimes an E, these brands differ so much in the bigger sizes I have found).
Operation day, I slept like a baby! (I always do!) and got picked up at 6am for the drive over. I arrived and Tan (my patient manager through Interational Rejuvination) organised everything. I kinda just got told where to go, sit and what to do which was nice and I didn't get stressed before the op. Before I got taken to my room to set it up, shower and scrub myself down then into my sexy dressing gown! Then went down to theatre for the op. Once in the room and strapped to the bed, Dr M came in, asked how I was, reconfirmed the implant sizes and what I wanted for my nose and then I went to sleep!!!
