For years I have wanted to fill in my temple areas...

For years I have wanted to fill in my temple areas on my hairline. I have had these larger then I like voids since I was 18 or 19 that I've wanted to fill in with some hair so I decided after 1 year of research to go ahead with it. I was my 40th bday present to myself!

I frequent Thailand en route to Europe a lot so I figured it was worth looking into. I did a heap of online research and interviewed 3 doctors before I made any commitment. I also gave myself a year to stew on it so I wasn't making any hasty decision.

In the the end I went with Damkerng Pathomvanich from DHT Clinic due to his experience, online reputation and overall I liked the consultation with the guy. He seemed genuine, down to earth and was easy to talk with.
We decided on 900 grafts initially at out first consult but this expanded to 1500 after further discussion on my return pre procedure a year later. I wanted to go a bit larger and we need to blend a bit deeper into the existing hairline. Overall I wasn't fussed about the extra cost. I really just wanted a good job by someone reputable.

I'm now 2 months out from procedure and impatiently waiting for results. Things look normal at this stage despite a little redder then expected transplant area but I'm told this will fade.
The procedure went well. I opted or FUT as it had a higher yield then FUE and I have a lot of long hair so FUE would have meant a shaved head which I didn't really want.
The FUT donor area and scare healed really well and without complication. No issues at all. You wouldn't even know it was there.

I followed all post op recommendations, avoided sun, stayed in doors, wore head coverings etc...
I started to get scabbing a few days later but just kept them moist then by about day 10 I rubbed them gently in the shower under water to clean them off. They came out well with no hair. Overall feeling pretty confident about them.

For the recipient area, I managed to hang on to my grafts for 3 weeks, which I thought I was one of the lucky ones who wouldn't shed, but the 4th week they started coming out. I knew this was expected so didn't stress about it. Some hung on and continued to grow so have partial hairs.

I know month 3/4 is the sweet spot to start seeing some action so I am anxiously waiting and hoping for the best.

Some pics attached pre and post as well as current progress. Stages are commended on the pics.

The experience with Damkerng Pathomvanich was good and he is highly reputed and I can't find a bad word about him anywhere. The only thing I would suggest for him and his clinic is better follow up and after procedure communication. Once procedure was done, you don't hear much from them unless you ask. Sometimes email replies can be a little slow. But otherwise all else is great. Im still yet to see results but from what I've researched I still have time to wait for that.

3.5 month update

It's been 3.5 months now and starting to see the growth happening so feeling good about the progress.

One side is growing faster then the other but my research says this can happen and is common for some.

The growth started as light and fine hairs that have started to thicken up and I should expect more density over the coming months. I'm hoping it will be enough as I want to avoid a 2nd procedure to add density.

I'm still hiding the operation by wearing hair out or wearing caps to cover it up. My scalp on the recipient area has been red for longer the expected and it's still a little red but is fading.

6 month update

Hi all, here is my 6 month update.
Hair is really growing now. One side is a little thicker then the other and I hope it will even out. I had more done on the left side as initial recession was more obvious there. The hair that has come trough is a bit thick in the individual strands and a little wirey but I think this is normal for initial growth.
