Female Hair Transplant

I have always hated how high my hairline was and at 32 I set off travelling for a year and decided whilst I was away I would have my procedure done so my recovery and regrowth would be hopefully be complete to a stage I was happy with when I returned home after a significant time away after all it’s hard to hide the regrowth at the front of your face during normal daily activities for a woman!
I noticed there isn’t many threads on here ref female female hair transplants so in order to help any one else make the decision I thought I would share my story and my journey so here goes...
On Nov 4th 2017 I went in for FUT method hair transplant! After drawing my hairline in and giving pre op meds I was high as a kite... once on the table I had local injected all over the strip at the back of my head which was going to be removed... these injections are not for the faint hearted and were by far the worst part about this procedure but once they are over you literally do not feel a thing for the rest of the entire procedure! I then Had the injections repeated in the front of my new desired hairline!
I remained conscious for the whole day which lasted from 10am until approx 5 pm but with the power of the pre op meds I feel in and out of deep sleeps throughout the day which surprised me!!
I am now 4 and a half months post op and the results so far are very promising... however it’s a slow process and isn’t something that happens over night!! For the past 4.5 months It’s been my personal choice to wear a hat or a headband of some sort to cover my regrowth as I am still at this stage uncomfortable with how it looks however I think within the next month to 6 weeks it will be at a stage where it starts to blend in nicely with my original hairline and be unnoticeable and I can’t wait to start going out with my hair up with it all combed back n blended in without a hat or headband!! Again this is my personal preference, you are not required to hide it away of course!
The scar has healed at the back of my head and I have naturally thick hair so it’s all covered, I have experienced some hair loss around the scar due to the follicles being shocked and I do hope that grows back but again it’s completely covered so it doesn’t phase me even when it’s tied up it’s undetectable!
The scar took its sweet time I heal tho, from all accounts it’s patient dependent but for me it took awhile and some looking after!!
As a whole I am happy I had this procedure done and yes at this point I would recommend it for those looking at getting it done, my only strong advice would be I think about the regrowth stage... as a woman our hair is everything to us and because of the position of where my procedure was done it’s on show for everyone to see which is why I decided to do it while I was travelling for a year and wearing A headband or a hat is the norm!!
I have posted pictures from pre op then 3 months onwards as this is when you will actually start seeing results... I’ll try and update this feed every 2 weeks as that’s when I am making my own photo diary :)
Any questions just ask, I’m more than happy to share my experience with other women thinking of getting this done!

thank you for sharing! why did you choose the transplant over a hairline lowering surgery?
March 21, 2018
Hi LMM3160,

Firstly my answer has to be I wasn’t actually aware hairline lowering was an option at the time!

I have since asked myself the question would I have chosen that over a transplant and in all honestly I don’t know, sure the recovery time and result time is MUCH more appealing!

The pros of my HT which I am happy with is that hairline I now have was designed for my face shape which I couldn’t have achieved with hairline lowering, and my natural hairline at the sides just above my temples is pretty thin naturally and that was able to be thickens by adding hair follicles.

In saying all of the above I think the only con I could have battled with in choosing to lower would be the potential scar at the front..
however I can’t say that I wouldn’t have chosen that method had I have been better informed of my options.

I’m not sure this answer is any help to you lol!

why did you choose FUE versus FUT?

I choose FUT because as a female I didn’t want the back of my head shaved :)

looks great! I think you did good lowering the hairline. The hairline now gives your face a curve of hair. Before the hairline was straight up on the sides. I bought me a hat, that was light and breathable. I also wear bangs The headbands bother me. I live wear people wear hats all the time, because of the sun. Doing ok so far.

Was $3,060 the total cost of the procedure? You mentioned you high hairline so did they implant hair follicles in places on your upper forehead where there was never any hair growth before?
April 14, 2018
Hey, so I paid £2000 GBP for my procedure, I had FUT which is where they effectively remove a slice from the back of my head... individually remove each hair follicle and plant it into my new desired hair line :) x

Hi Kelly, you look great. Did you feel a lot of pain afterwards?
September 27, 2018
Hi, not so much pain but the first week recovery was very uncomfortable for me, I booked a hotel and stayed out for a solid week, I developed 2 black eyes and massive swelling to my face... everything subsided within that week tho x

I have been asked which colour I chose.. I chose the one on the right which is 1 under the whitest option so I could match them with my lower teeth and prevent them looking fake

I’m actually going out more and more without a head band or anything now, I just have to spray it down to blend into my natural hairline as it’s at a length where it has a mind of its own at the minute lol!! Let me know how you get on!! X
