Today I am 5 weeks post op - it's been a whirlwind of emotion and a variety of boredom, tv watching and boredom !
I ended up having a partial hysterectomy at the same time as my Tuck. I really didn't want to go through two recoveries and still feel that was the best choice for me. Having said that I think my recovery has taken longer than most but that is to be expected.
It's been a crazy 5 weeks with lots of tv watching and simply boredom but that's ok it will end soon. That has been the hardest part for me the doing nothing. The discomfort and pain was definitely more than what I bargained for but I'm over the hump of it all and on my way to mending. I still have a lot of tightness and at times can't stand fully straight but I look forward to a complete recovery soon.

i had a full hysterectomy so I know that it takes a good 4-6 weeks to recover from it. Now my question is I see that it was 97k dollars. How much was the tummy tuck part? I so wish I would have thought of that. That way would been in hospital first two days on morphine drip....

Haha not sure where that number came from that is not what I entered. It was $13,000

Omg...your stomach looks amazing and your scar as well. Would you mind posting more pictures? I would seriously consider going to Canada for a TT if the results will be this great!

That's actually not the scar it's just a mark from the compression garment. But the scar has been healing great.

Hi hun i am happy that ur sx went well u look amazing! I can hardly see where ur tt incision are!!
I have a question to ask about partial Hysterectomy procedure & tummy tuck, what made u decide to have bout at the same time did u have more than one surgeons to do both procedure and how old are u may i ask why a hysterectomy? I am going through somewhat would call rollercoaster mist right now! First I am 50 year old and have discover during painful intercourse, heavy blooding cramps etc: i find out i had a few cyst however it showed in one sonogram 1 cyst was lager and need to be removed then at some going back for another sonogram it disappeared!! I had to ask question where did it went lol anyway to make a long story short it pop back up again but this time after sending me to see uologist to check on my pelvis discovering the cyst was still there and other my bladder and palvic prolapse which i would need that lifted but dr i saw want to perform the proliferation by removing uterus which is called a hysterectomy!! I ask the surgeon why because the cysts r not in anyway cancerous at least not to my knowledge!! Her answer was it was would be difficult to do the lift without removing my uterus!! I am not to convince about removing my uterus not planning on having anymore children but still having my period and i dont want my body to be thrown into for menopause! Yes i know thats around the corner but i dont need to rush it.
I looked into laparoscopyMany gynecologists feel the best way to treat a falling uterus is to remove it, with a surgery called a hysterectomy, and then attach the apex of the vagina to healthy portions of the ligaments up inside the body. Other gynecologists, on the other hand, feel that hysterectomy is a major operation and should only be done if there is a condition of the uterus that requires it. Along those lines, there has been some debate among gynecologists regarding the need for hysterectomy to treat uterine prolapse.
Can The Uterine Prolapse Be Treated Without Hysterectomy? A Resounding YES!
Some gynecologists have expressed the opinion that proper repair of the ligaments is all that is needed to correct uterine prolapse, and that the lengthier, more involved and riskier hysterectomy is not medically necessary. To that end, an operation has been recently developed that uses the laparoscope to repair those supporting ligaments and preserve the uterus. The ligaments, called the uterosacral ligaments, are most often damaged in the middle, while the lower and upper portions are usually intact. With this laparoscopic procedure, the surgeon attaches the intact lower portion of the ligaments to the strong upper portion of the ligaments with strong, permanent sutures. This accomplishes the repair without removing the uterus. A recent study from Australia found this operation, that they named laparoscopic suture hysteropexy, has excellent results. Our practice began performing this new procedure in 2000, been very good.this operation. I am sorry to have taken up ur space but i just want to share this with u and what I'm experience.
I'm sorry again but i find its good to share because knowledge is power!! Love that you are doing and looking well! Happy healing.

I am mid 40's and had a condition of the uterus that was causing a lot of discomfort. Mine was specific to only uterus removal so I kept ovaries and cervix no forced menopause for me.
The insisting is actually under the underwear sorry the indentation is from compression garments.
I decided to do both together because i couldn't handle two recoveries and just so happens both dr were open to the idea.
My PS opened and assisted gyno during the Hysterectomy and then she went about the Tuck after. Yes you need specialists in both fields and some may be open to it while others against.

Thanks hun that explains it has to y both was implemented for u! With all that being said u look amazing!! I'm glad that things r going well with u.

Unless they remove your ovaries you will not go into menopause. Just an fyi. I'm having one in a couple of months.

Can I ask how old you are and what lady parts did you have removed? I'm getting TT and hysterectomy next month - nervous but excited.

Looks great - are you applying any bio oil or anything to the scar? Or did the doc tell you not to put anything on it? I'm curious bc I'm getting TT with my hysterectomy next month.

Look great. Doesn't seem like you have any swelling!? When did the swelling subside for you?
January 25, 2017
I would say around the 6 week make it was mostly gone. I still swell a bit if I walk a lot or have a crazy day. Back to the gym next week - will see how that goes.

The 6 week point
classygal01December 6, 2016
Today marks 6 weeks. Still have swelling but it has been the last week where I'm starting to feel normal. Ladies you need 4 weeks of complete rest - around the 5 th week before our can start doing normal stuff.
This has been far more crazy than I thought or expected. I went through the same as many have such as the " why did I do this " and feeling a little down because I couldn't do much at the 3 week mark despite thinking I could. It's a big long recovery and I think people need to know this and expect 4 weeks

I'm glad to know this - thanks for your honest assessment!
How are you doing with stairs? Lifting? Reaching for stuff in the cupboard? Do you just take everything very slow?
December 7, 2016
I was fine with stairs immediately but not sure that subnormal. No lifting anything over 10 lbs for 8 weeks. Cupboards fine with small stool but that's it. Yes slow. The first week home I couldn't cook even so make sure you have lots of meals frozen for you both. You won't be able to cook. I would do 3 weeks worth.
I would say from what I see recovery is a good week to two behind Normal Tuck. Are you doing a full Hysterectomy ?
December 7, 2016
Everything but ovaries. Thank you for the advice on food. It's gonna be tough bc my son is so picky - there will be lotsa pizza and mac n cheese for a while!
December 7, 2016
So you will have a little more to deal with in recovery because when they remove cervix they sew the canal closed at top. Yeah you won't be driving or cooking for I bet 3 weeks.
December 11, 2016
you are so right, people need to know it is harder than you think it is going to be
December 11, 2016
Hi classy gal - another thing too is I won't be exercising, so another reason to eat healthy, have started to look at healthy frozen options to stock the freezer with. I'm kinda worried about not getting the mental health benefits that I get from weights and treadmill. Plus both docs have said it is pretty common to go through depression after both types of procedures- so I may have to get on an antidepressant (it has been a terrible year anyhow and have been debating with my doctor anyways) so I'm seriously considering it.
December 15, 2016
I have not had any depression I'm happy with my decisions over all. I don't think it's a reason to start taking pills. Some of those are so addictive it's hard to stop.
January 2, 2017
I'm rereading your advice Classy gal as I get closer. How are you doing???? Hope your holidays were good.
January 2, 2017
Very good thanks. Every week gets better but definitely a major surgery in terms of recovery. I worry for you because you don't have a lot of support for your son and this is gonna be a down and out for at least 10-14 days. I will post a review update this week too.
January 2, 2017
Glad to hear it. Yes I'm freaking out a bit but I'll do the best I/we can. Thanks and hope everything continues to go well!

March 22, 2017
I agree, I still don't have my strength completely back and it's been three months
March 22, 2017
I don't think it will just come back on it's own. I had to work out to get it back
Thank you for posting your review. You look amazing and are now through the worst past of the recovery process. All up hill from here now! The tight feeling will last a while, you just kinda get use to it. Your tummy is so flat and belly button looks great.
