Surgery done!

My surgery day was August 24th and everything was pretty smooth. My best friend took me to my surgery and we got there around 6 am. They brought me back and asked me lots of questions and got me into my gown, compression socks, put an IV in my hand, and wrapped me in nice warm blankets. I had taken a xanex in the morning so I was nice and calm.
My doctor came in and marked me up and then said we would add lipo to the inner part of my knee, bonus!!
They walked me back to the operating room and I laid down on the bed and talked to me for what felt like one minute and I was out. The surgery was finished about 3:30. Longer than I was thinking but the doctor said it was what he was expecting.
I was in recovery for a bit and then they wheeled me to my room. I remember just wanting to sleep. I felt really tight and it was hard to breathe.
I have to say I didn't love my stay overnight in the hospital. I was glad to be there but the nurses were not on top of my pain meds. I was in a lot of pain. This is major surgery and the only other surgery I've ever had was wisdom teeth! The nurses waited until I asked for meds each time. That was frustrating. I ended up going on dilaudid because oxycodone just wasn't cutting it for me.
My doctor called me that evening and I told him I was in pain. He was sweet and told me to hold strong and he would see me in the morning.
My morning nurse was much better and she was more on top of my pain meds. I had taken my first walk the night before and oh wow that was scary. My legs were swollen and I felt so shaky.
My second walk was better and each time got a little easier. I was discharged Friday around 3pm and when I was home was able to supplement with Tylenol and ibuprofen so my husband was a way better nurse than the hospital. I felt so much better at home.
My husband has been a godsend taking the best care of me and I so appreciate him even more.
I'll leave a few before and after surgery pics here but will update more soon!!

6 hours

Surgery is in 6 hours!! So nervous!!

10 days to go!

My surgery is 10 days away and I've been on the hunt for everything I think I'll need.

I have almost everything paid off but not quite yet. Mostly credit cards.

I am so freaking nervous and get chest pains if I think about it too much. Praying for a safe surgery and hopefully no complications.

What were your favorite items that helped you after surgery???
