Let me start by saying everyone took fantastic care of me except one of the nurses I am very happy with the service provided but I will be filling either an internal formal complaint or one with the MD board of nursing, and I will get into that. So I'll start with the bad:

Surgery went well, had a wonderful nurse who was obviously in training/new but still fantastic and a horrible veteran nurse, who freaked out my dad and my fiance by screaming at them to get back there right away, my fiance almost cried(he's not a crier in the 8 years we've been together I've seen him cry MAYBE 5 times at like funerals) because he thought something had gone wrong and I was dead but apparently we were just cutting into her lunch hour! She then screamed at me in post op for wearing boots, the boots I wore are the easiest shoes to slip on! I wore them because I wanted to make it easier for the nurses because I know how hard it is when girls wear leggings and uggs! She kept trying to take my puking basin(which I was just spitting into but still) saying you can't take this my dad who's a medic and kind of a big scary guy especially if anyone is cruel to me said "no, it's disposable you're not going to reuse it you're going to throw it out so what's the difference?!" Then in a big booming voice when she kept arguing with him he told her to stop and that she was doing a horrible job needless to say that basin is mine now. Finally she didn't medicate me for pain(even though I was told to bring my Vicodin which I did because they would medicate me for pain before my drive home), NOR TURN MY PAIN PUMP ON, we got stuck in traffic for 2 hours and I ended up hurting myself and crying trying to adjust my seat. My fiance got a little stern with me and told me not to do that pulled over and got me as comfortable as possible, but then I guess cause of the anesthesia and pain(I don't cry about things like this) I cried some more because my fiance was stern with me, I know it was because he was upset her couldn't make me feel better and he held me and apologized profusely. My dad got me up the 3 flights of stairs and into bed, thankfully he's an amazing medic with awesome skills that are fantastic for re-positioning patients with minimal pain(he is huge on pain management in terms of making the patient comfortable with and without pain medication), and then I asked him to turn the pain pump up if he could and we found out the horrible nurse was in such a rush to kick us out she never turned it on, within 5 minutes I felt probably 70% better, I took 2 Vicodin 5/325, and a valium slept it off for a while, became uncomfortable with how I was sleeping and my fiance and my dad set me up in a recliner and I slept some more, by the time I got up I was probably 80% better. BUT I feel like my armpit was tearing on the side where the horrid nurse taped me up I thought something was wrong with my drains or pain pump come to find out she did a ridiculously bad job taping me up it was pinching pulled too taught(she actually tore the skin). So I trimmed and adjusted the tape and now I feel probably 90% better I walked around a lot, lots of deep breathing, been using my percussion massager on my back(ahhhhhh-maaaazing!) I can even put my hair up easily and open my pill bottles and turn door nobs no problem I also had to use my arms to get myself up earlier and while it wasn't the best thing ever it wasn't THAT bad.

When I go back for post op I will ask about filing an internal complaint about the nurse because everyone else was wonderful, I am very happy with my results( I think they look great at 12 hours and 18 hours post op) But I will never have surgery there again if she's involved, and I will never recommend them to anyone if she's going to be involved in the surgery, which is a damn shame because everyone else was fantastic. I'm a nurse, I've done pacu and same day surgery rotations and never in a million years would I act like her or have I seen another nurse act like her. If I can't file a complaint internally I will file one with the MD board of nursing.

Now for the good: The training nurse was fantastic, informed, sweet, and considerate but like all the rest of the staff she didn't seem capable of standing up to the horrible nurse. I had no intentions of peaking I can't remember if the doc said that was ok or not, but I just wanted to let them de-frankenboob for a few days first so I wouldn't get depressed or regret it. But my acebandage they sent me home in came loose in my sleep so I ended up seeing them and I don't think they look bad at all, so every time my ace bandage has come loose and had to be re-applied I've snapped some pics!

Also the pain pump is WONDERFULL as long as it's on the drains also seem to be helping immensely with swelling, I'm drink a good bit of water but I haven't been hungry, so I've been making sure to get some Gatorade in. I took a zofran when I got home just to be sure, but no nausea or vomiting and I haven't had any since, so I'm just going to listen to my body and eat when I'm hungry, maybe have some sherbert or something soon cause my body needs nutrients to heal.

Oh I forgot to ass the nurse also screamed at me and got in my face pre-op to say that I wanted to listen to country not what everyone else wanted and at this point I was tired of her [RS bleep] not realizing she would get worse and said, I don't like country but I won't remember so go with whatever the majority rules. And she just scoffed and huffed and puffed away. Who screams in someone face while they're strapped to a table getting an IV and about to have surgery, maybe she's a great nurse in a different enviorment or maybe she was having a horrible day IDK but the OR is NOT the place for her.

Oh also my first IV started to infiltrate I let the anesthesiologist know and he said ok but we'll have to stick you again is that ok? I was like are you kidding me? yes stick me again, as many times as you need to, I can deal with that what I can't deal with is an infiltration or phlebitis. And he seemed very pleased with my reaction I suppose some people would rather destroy their bodies than be stuck with a needle again. Anyway from what I can tell cause they gave me sleepy gas before continuing sticking me, I had about 4 sticks, which is fine, I have lame veins and I was dehydrated from the whole NPO since midnight. The anesthesiologist, surgeon, secretary, patient care co-ordinator, and training nurse all took amazing care of me and listened to what I had to say. The other horrible nurse, well at very least she'll have to deal with my complaints. pics to come as soon as I upload them

Ohhhhhh my god she's lost the plot by the sounds of it. Hope after all that drama your feeling good and healing well. I'd complain too, she sounds like a cow of a nurse. You need happy supportive people in theatre and hospital it's scary and frightening and emotional enough as it is ..

Omg! WTF! I just read about your experience with the RN! I've been a rn for 13 years now. Working in trauma ICU, I can't believe that she was so unprofessional! I would have given her a piece of my mind and put her in her place. Can't believe that her coworkers put up with her [RS bleep]!!! The anesthesiologist letting u know that you'll have to be stuck again if u want another IV.. What? Your IV was infiltrated... Imagine if it was someone who didn't know better! Then the post op issues with your pain pump!!!!Sorry, for getting worked up, it just irritates me because as RNs we should be pt advocators. The main thing you love your results and you're healing well ! Xxxx

Hi!! On Thursday at 7:30am I am getting breast...

Hi!!
On Thursday at 7:30am I am getting breast implants with a lift, utilizing IV sedation, jp drains, and a post op local anesthetic pain pump(for an extra $250 included in my listed total). I am getting 525cc smooth, round, moderate plus, memory gel silicone implants from Mentor, with a crescent lift and insertion through the nipple and under the muscle, with my surgeon preferring to place the implant partially under the pec, oblique, and the serratus muscles to prevent visible wrinkling and displacement. My surgeon prescribed clindamycin starting 3 days before surgery, arinica starting 2 days before surgery, valium by my request for the night before surgery, zofran for the morning of surgery(And post op as needed), vicodin(as opposed to percocet which makes me itchy, sick, and hyper) in addition to my post op local anesthetic pain pump for post op pain, and levoquin starting the day after surgery.

I have cleaned, done laundry, gone grocery shopping, ordered and set up a wedge pillow, a neck pillow, flexible hot/cold packs, zip front sports bra, changed my white sheets to darker colors that I care less if my drains leak on, got out my heating pad for back pain(I'm a stomach sleeper), and I have a recliner available if the wedge pillow isn't cutting it. I explained everything to my fiance who will be caring for me post op, being a RN I essentially made him care plans for me!! I am hoping for a quick and easy recovery(who wouldn't?!) but am preparing for the worst.

My pre-op stats: 32B/C, 31" ribcage, 5'9" 135#

Hi hon! I'm excited for u! My surgery isn't until April :( I'm also a rn, how long are u taking off of work? Hope your everything goes well, you'll be in my thoughts!
January 24, 2014
Thank you!! I felt like the time dragged by and then all the sudden bam! I was in the OR and it was happening, so April will come so fast! I'm taking 2 weeks off but the work I do is more patient education, tetanus/flu/hep B shots, ect, so no real heavy lifting for me. You may want to discuss it with you employer if you feel comfortable with that if you have to heavy lifting but if not or if they won't give you help or a light load I would probably take 4 weeks. I'm also a bartender and I'm not going to be changing kegs or lifting a ton of glasses like when we do dishes, I plan to delegate kegs and just load and unload directly from the washer rather than moving it over when it's full. Thank you again for your kind words :)

When you say a lift, what does that mean. The boobs will sit up higher on your chest wall? How do they do this? if you don't mind me asking. Was that their decision or yours? I think I'll be having one in years to come. My chest is Sooooo long looks like my boobs are at my waist when I sit down. Yours really don't seem at all low. Or I'm probably totally wrong with what I think it is...lol .... good luck, I wish I could of had that size.

I had a slight lift, known as a crescent, donut, or benelli lift that the doctor and I both decided yes I could go without but since I was getting 525cc it would would help to support and center my nipples as well as accommodate for sagging with age. I went in planning on having the lift, the doctor agreed for all the same reasons. I hope that helps to answer your question, if not I will try to clarify better.

Actually I just took a look at your review and yours look fabulous, you don't need a lift at all!

Thanks for that, I get it now. Yes the heavier they are, the more support they certainly need. Good luck with it all and I can't wait to see your results.
