I got breast implants when I was 22 years old. I had no problems with them, they were just too big and I didn't want big fake boobs anymore. I got them removed in the avoca clinic in wicklow Ireland. The female surgeon on my pre-op visit was very nice. However I ran into trouble post-op. She used glue for the incision site . I am in the professional field myself and after two weeks I knew they were not healing properly . I rang the avoca clinic to see if I could be the surgeon, I got told she doesn't see her post-op until four weeks after the operation.I had worked in plastic's before aboard, and the surgeon should see their patients the week after at least. So i had to see the nurse instead. The nurse had a look and said everything was fine. A week after that they still were not healing properly and were red and sore. I rang again and insisted to see the surgeon . I had to wait a full week before I got an appointment . Then on the day of my appointment they rang and cancelled it, and said I had no choice but to wait another month to see the surgeon. So two months later I eventually seen her. She had to make new incisions on the wounds and use more glue. I would advise anyone thinking of getting surgery done in ireland not to go to the avoca clinic. The post-op care you receive is below the standard . Post-op care on any surgery is vital to a good recovery . My scars pre-op wear flat white and not noticeable , now i am left with uneven red scars. It still hurts to wear a wired bra . It's been nearly a year since their out and my scars are still sore. I am currently receiving fraxel laser on them to help them heal and look better. For a plastic surgeon to use glue to close a wound is just unacceptable and lazy. Mostly general surgeons use glue on patients getting hernia repair or children in emergency cases . It shouldn't be used on an area where you're trying to achieve a cosmetic result. The people who work in the avoca clinic have very little clinical knowledge and do not go to the female surgeon. I regret going there for the surgery but I dont regret getting the implants out. I feel I definitely could could of achieved about better cosmetic result if I went to another surgeon.

What a story! I'm sorry that this happened to you. I have learnt on my skin that in Ireland people who are not Plastic Surgeons but simply general doctor can perform the same ops as Real Plastic surgeon and open private clinic, which to me it's really unreal. How is going the laser treatment ? Are you going to put a review about that ? Thanks for sharing your story .

I am going for a consultation tomorrow for a breast revision and Tummy Tuck. I am also avoiding Avoca and Auralia! I'm sorry you went through all of this. I am paying and meeting with a PS who is on the board of plastic surgeons. Ireland is a joke when it comes to plastic surgery! They really need to tighten it up!

Hi I know this is an old post.. but hopefully you’ll answer.. Can I ask you how much was it to get your implants removed .. I got mine done not even 2 years, and I hate them. There high profile and do not suit my body at all.. I’d love to get them taken out.
