Sleeve Gastrectomy - my Personal Experience - Australia, AU

UPDATED FROM debsM

16 weeks now since i was sleeved

$5,000
Hi Everyone
sorry in the delay - i haven't updated for a bit. It's now being 16 weeks and I've lost 30.54kgs that's 67.32pounds!!! |Feeling amazing to be honest. I walk daily and love it. I take the stair cases wherever there is stairs i walk them and love it!!!
I've gone from a very tight size 30 to a size 20 in 4.5 months!!!!!
the downside - really nothing - life is fantastic - amazing and i have no regrets.
i do miss eating what i use to eat!!! i would love to be able to eat an entire plateful of noodles or curry however i can only eat very small servings. I eat entree servings only.
I get reflux alot - that i don't appreciate - i burp and its awful and if i don't like something i've eaten oh gosh it just comes up so i make sure i have tissues on hand if i eat something i haven't had since the sleeve.
I have no regrets!!! I'm so grateful that this has happened to me and i can only recommend it to future people who were like me - a lifetime of living FAT. No more i'm living a great life, healthier and happier - its the best decision i ever made.
I'm still learning what i can and can't consume - its a learning path and its a path i'm slowing taking baby steps with.
I'm going on my first holiday - yep i have never left my state nor gone overseas as an adult - i am on a cruise at the end of this month and i'm excited and nervous. Everyone tells me the food is amazing on a cruise - well its not going to be the food that i'm going for - its the adventure - so i'll appreciate the land, the culture and the tourist things whilst everyone else appreciates the food - because i'm there for the adventure not the food.
Til next time - chow for now

Hi Debs, where did you have the surgery done please, Im in Qld and researching this proceedure and of course the surgeons?
I had mine done here in Western Australia under Dr J Tan at Sir Charles Gardenier Hospital.
Hi Teye, I just saw your note about being in Qld. I am also and have booked in to have my gastric sleeve done on the 10th Sept 2014 with Dr Justin Greenslade at Greenslopes Private Hospital. I live about 2 hours away from Brisbane and decided on him after much research on the internet. Have you had your surgery done?
Would love to hear how you're going after a couple years from your surgery :)
I'm in Melbourne. Getting my sleeve in Feb 2017. Do you have any updates?
Start my liquid diet on Tuesday and seeing the surgeon. Two more weeks to go

38 days (5 weeks) since sleeved lost 13kgs in weight loss - I'm so very happy

Hi everyone - I've managed to loose 13kgs since my sleeve that's 5 weeks and the weight is falling off! I start back on solid foods in 5 sleeps and i'm still not hungry. My diet consists of meal replacement shakes (tony ferguson brand), sometimes i'll have one wheatbix with loads of milk for breakky, lunch is always a meal replacement shake and dinner i normally try to have a scrambled egg and mushy veggies. I'm lucky to be able to eat half a cup of food. The one thing i'm battling with in my l iquid intake. It's almost impossible to drink even a ltre of water a day :( this bothers me very much. I'm trying really trying to increase my water intake and i'm just not improving. Today I've only had maybe 400mls. I'm determine to get a litre into my system before i go to sleep. I know its just a matter of training myself to remember to drink more sips more often. other than the lack of water intake - i'm very happy with my sleeve - the best thing i ever did for myself.

You're doing so well, you must have been fearful after the awful experiences in 2010 but you're on top of the world now!
Hi AllieGB - I'm feeling fantastic now!!! I don't regret this procedure at all. I was terrified and even thou i get a little bit annoyed that i can't eat an entire plate of food like i was doing prior to the procedure - there is a reason i'm not eating buckets of food its because i don't need buckets of food. I'm loving the healthier me!!! I am able to be more active and i'm happier at myself. I still have another 28kgs to loose and i know i will do it and i know i'll keep it off. Thank you for your support thru all of this and i can only speak highly of the procedure. Sleeve is the only way to go. xx

31 days now and still on mushy food stage and loosing kgs....

Day 31 and sleeved!!! crusing along still on mushy food for another 15 days however, kinda like this stage. I can only eat small amounts like a small tuna tin size at any one time. Not sure if that changes onces i'm onto solid foods. I still find it easier to do the shake replacement meal. I'm never hungry nor do i get cravings!!! Its weird in the nicest of ways.
I've lost 8kgs in my 31 days!!! feeling amazing.
I've kept one of the biggest sized jeans i had and all the rest i have donated to St Vincent de Paul clothes donation bins. I just wanted to keep that size 32 jeans forever to remind me never to go back!!!
I'm now in a size 24 and its not tight its very comfortable and i'm very happy. I have sizes in my wardrobe to a size 20 and i'm so hoping i'll get to those size 20's for my holiday at the end of January. That's in 14 weeks time. I'm going to give it my best shot at aiming for a size 20 for my holiday. I won't need to buy any clothes because i already have them in the wardrobe given to me by friend who lost heaps of weight.
I do love my family and friends comments - they have noticed my weight loss and are continuing to support me every step of the way. I've very blessed to be surrounded by support and love.
My favourite mushy meal at the moment seems to be scrambled egg with a teaspoon of bake beans. LOL
