I have facial asymmetry, the whole left side of my head (eye socket, cheekbone, TMJ etc) is smaller than the right. This was recently confirmed by a CT scan. I have had TMJ issues since adolescence and I suffer with headaches, neck aches, ringing ears and my TMJ joints are showing wear, especially on the left.
I went to see Dr Rohit Kumar at Cosmetic Sanctuary a few weeks back about this and couldn't be more impressed. I went in wanting him to jab my masseter muscles with Botox and thought I would be in and out quick smart, but not at all. Dr Kumar immediately saw the asymmetry involved more than just my jaw and said he wanted to know if I had major skeletal issues before starting treatment of any kind on the jaw muscles. Dr Kumar sent me for a CT scan, saw me again to confirm that I do indeed have a mild case of hemifacial microsomia, and referred me to a maxillo-facial surgeon to see if surgery was needed on my TMJ. The surgeon thought it was not needed and said I was a good candidate for toxin injections in the masseter and temporalis muscles on both sides.
I really respect Dr Kumar's measured and logical approach - I am sure that many other doctors would have jabbed me in the jaw on my first visit, taken the $$ and sent me on my way.
I went back today and got the injections. 46 units of Dysport in total, 24 in my left masseter, 16 in my right and 3 in each temporalis muscle. I asked Dr Kumar if he thought I might have jowling as a result of muscle atrophy but he said he didn't think so as my skin elasticity is quite good. Time will tell! Apparently the Dysport takes about a week to take in this area and the muscle atrophy won't kick in for months, but I will document it here.

What a lovely review to read! It's great to see your doctor investigated any underlying medical problems that you may have had and sent you for testing, having your best medical interest at heart. Outstanding to know!!! Your so right in saying... so many would take your money and send you out the door. This is really impressive for a doctor to do this when you just booked in for jaw Botox. It's great to know any underlying medical conditions you may have had have been ruled out by him before he did something as common as facial Botox injections. Thank you for sharing your experience it really helps the community understanding doctors ethics and treatment plans, so we are able to choose our doctors ourselves based on a number of factors including genuine reviews and experiences shared with one another .

Thanks @BecMason, glad you found my review helpful. My jaw muscles relaxed significantly in the week after the injections and at the moment I am only able to consciously clench my jaw very mildly. This has made a huge difference to my sleep quality, and had almost eradicated my headaches and neck pain. The only very mild side effect I have to report is that my smile is slightly “straighter” (ie the corners of my mouth don’t turn up as much as before when I smile), but this is very subtle and no one but me has noticed. The other is that my jaw gets tired when chewing sticky foods like protein bars! But this is a very small price to pay for the relief I have got from this treatment. I have not seen any cosmetic effect as yet (ie improvement of my facial asymmetry due to atrophy of the larger left masseter) but this is as expected as atrophy takes time, especially when we are talking about the Arnold Schwarzenegger of jaw muscles here! We will see in a couple of months. Overall I am very happy :)

Ha ha I love your humour referring to your jaw muscle as one like Arnold :) The specialist I had seen referred to the muscle as being so strong it could crack a walnut out of its shell. I am glad you've gained medical relief:) cosmetic aesthetic appealing results are great to have but I believe being able to function properly are much more important.. and so far you have achieved that in such a short period of time! Congratulations and here's to no more jaw clenching :) x

I? was told that the Dysport would not “kick in” for a week but I? started feeling a difference 2 days post-injection. OMG the relief! Unbelievable. I? wish I? had done this years ago. No discernible difference in my jawline yet, but that is to be expected.

:) thank you! I can’t describe the feeling of not clenching my jaw constantly! It is amazing.

Has it helped with your pain? I have TMJ and I'm thinking of getting this done... I've read mixed results!

Yes, it has helped hugely with the muscular pain caused by the clenching. I still find my teeth and have to wear a splint at night, but I am no longer getting the tension headaches, neck aches and other muscle-related stuff! Huge relief.

*grind my teeth!

Good to know, thank you! I've tried the mouth guards, heating/icing my jaw, soft food, relaxation, blah blah, but none of it helps with the neck and face pain... I love Botox so I think I'll try it!

Thought I would give an update on my experience with Dysport to masseter and temporalis muscles. Overall I am really pleased, the tension headaches and muscular jaw pain have disappeared.
Cosmetically, my jaw has definitely narrowed, when comparing the before and after shots, which I am pleased about. I did get a very slightly droopy smile which I only noticed a few weeks after the injections but this has faded. I also feel like I have more pronounced vertical cheek lines when I smile but that may be due to or exacerbated by weight loss in my face, rather than the toxin alone. I will be discussing this with the lovely Dr Kumar and his team when I go back for more injectables in about 3 weeks.
