Update after 11 weeks
Thought I would give an update on my experience with Dysport to masseter and temporalis muscles. Overall I am really pleased, the tension headaches and muscular jaw pain have disappeared.
Cosmetically, my jaw has definitely narrowed, when comparing the before and after shots, which I am pleased about. I did get a very slightly droopy smile which I only noticed a few weeks after the injections but this has faded. I also feel like I have more pronounced vertical cheek lines when I smile but that may be due to or exacerbated by weight loss in my face, rather than the toxin alone. I will be discussing this with the lovely Dr Kumar and his team when I go back for more injectables in about 3 weeks.

So far so good
I? was told that the Dysport would not “kick in” for a week but I? started feeling a difference 2 days post-injection. OMG the relief! Unbelievable. I? wish I? had done this years ago. No discernible difference in my jawline yet, but that is to be expected.

I have facial asymmetry, the whole left side of my head (eye socket, cheekbone, TMJ etc) is smaller than the right. This was recently confirmed by a CT scan. I have had TMJ issues since adolescence and I suffer with headaches, neck aches, ringing ears and my TMJ joints are showing wear, especially on the left.
I went to see Dr Rohit Kumar at Cosmetic Sanctuary a few weeks back about this and couldn't be more impressed. I went in wanting him to jab my masseter muscles with Botox and thought I would be in and out quick smart, but not at all. Dr Kumar immediately saw the asymmetry involved more than just my jaw and said he wanted to know if I had major skeletal issues before starting treatment of any kind on the jaw muscles. Dr Kumar sent me for a CT scan, saw me again to confirm that I do indeed have a mild case of hemifacial microsomia, and referred me to a maxillo-facial surgeon to see if surgery was needed on my TMJ. The surgeon thought it was not needed and said I was a good candidate for toxin injections in the masseter and temporalis muscles on both sides.
I really respect Dr Kumar's measured and logical approach - I am sure that many other doctors would have jabbed me in the jaw on my first visit, taken the $$ and sent me on my way.
I went back today and got the injections. 46 units of Dysport in total, 24 in my left masseter, 16 in my right and 3 in each temporalis muscle. I asked Dr Kumar if he thought I might have jowling as a result of muscle atrophy but he said he didn't think so as my skin elasticity is quite good. Time will tell! Apparently the Dysport takes about a week to take in this area and the muscle atrophy won't kick in for months, but I will document it here.
