First, I just got the procedure done today so it will be a few months till I come back and update. No I did not see any change at all immediately after. There was a special going on and so I got my lower face done for $1850. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name the place so lets just say its an 'Ideal' place to boost your 'Image' here in Austin, TX. I hope you got that. The lower face included the area under the chin which is what I was most interested in since I am starting to get a double chin. I am 35 and double chins run in the family so I wanted to try to stop it from forming as much as possible. First of all ladies and gents, yes it is very painful. I have had my underarms lasered for hair removal(the full 10 to 12 sessions, can't remember was couple of years ago) and that was a breeze compared to this. First, the price is for one session only. It was about an hour long, maybe a tad bit longer like 65 mins or so and I have a small face. I wan't to give details because I would like to see if others will point out differences across establishments. The lower face included everything from about the bottom of your ears (like if you start at the bottom of one ear and draw a line across your face to the bottom of the other ear) down to the line where the curve of the neck starts. So right below your jawline but not going too much down into the neck. I hope you guys can envision that. BUT, it does NOT include any of the mouth area either above or below it. I was told it was something about they can't even go too deep in the layers of those areas and also they would need a different wand. I felt jipped, I have to admit. It seems like other places do include that area as part of the lower face. Bummer. The face is divided into quadrants. From one ear to your mouth there were three quadrants. So that is 6 quadrants from ear to ear(remember that the middle section, above and below the lips is not included). The area of your neck right below your chin is one quadrant and from here to the ear line going along the lower jawline are two more quadrants on both sides of the face. So across the bottom of your jawline are 5 quadrants total. The entire lower face was 11 quadrants. Each quadrants receives from 5 to 50 pulses. The biggest quadrants were the ones right next to the mouth on both sides, those were the ones receiving 50 pulses each. Anyway, the pain was so strange it is hard to describe. I used to get ear infections when I was young which would make my inner ear and throat hurt. Another good example, is when you have strong sinus pressure. Or yet another example is if you have ever been really sick with the flu and it even made your gums hurt. Well the pain was something like all three of these examples. It was almost unbearable. When the girl had done all 11 sections I was ready to jump off the table. But then she said she had to do it all over again. I was about to run away when she mentioned that the second pass is at a lesser intensity because it is targeting the upper layers of the skin. The second pass was way more tolerable and only really hurt a lot about 5 times which is nothing compared to the over 100 times it really hurt the first pass. I was offered Ibuprofren before the procedure started but I had already taken some before I got there but I was not offered any strong drugs like Valium. I was told they do not do local anesthetic because it wouldn't help anyway since they are not really targeting your top layers and instead they are going deeper. I think they are right. I felt the pain deep inside at my muscles and bones. So far my face shows no trauma and it just feels slightly numb in those areas. Even after all this pain, I think I might still try to do it again. I still would like to do my upper face and maybe my lower neck and decollete. It would be nice to have the area around my mouth done also. However, this time I will find a way to get less areas done at a time even if it means me going back a few times back to back. I think they don't want to sell smaller areas so I wouldn't mind buying the bigger area if they let me split it up into different sessions and different days. If the place that I got it done does not want to agree to something like this, I supposed I will have to keep looking because I am only up for smaller dosages of torture in the future.

I had ultherapy done in NYC, after researching for the best treatment to tighing the skin, and my double chin. I had it done October 2,2014 and my lower face and chin is very swollen and lots of bruises, I hope this treatment works. I paid $3,000 fof mid face and mid neck and I have to say ,that it is very painfull, it feels like electric shocks. Hope for the best.

I had it done on Oct. 1 and bruising is now subsiding but I had the sorest throat about 6 days after and still sore to touch under my neck. Lots of bruising under chin bone. I paid $2840 at a 15 % discount. I only hope this works. I am 58 5"2 and weight 110 . So with less fat it was.......painful and I had natural childbirth!

Give it a bit more healing time, these things take a while.

Days two and three. There was some swelling and numbness.

CrazyCatGirl
I just wanted to mention that on day two I was noticeably swollen. Just swollen, not red or my skin looking any different. My lower face just looked slightly fatter. I felt like a chipmunk. It wasn't extremely noticeable, in fact my husband didn't even notice until I pointed it out. But, I figured if I had gotten my entire face done, then it probably would have been more noticeable. On day two I also felt quite numb in those areas. Today is day three and I feel slightly less numb but my skin is really starting to dry out in the treated areas.

I am very strongly considering this (as opposed to either eyelid surgery or a temporal brow list), so I am anxiously reading your comments and review!

I had my whole face and neck done yesterday. I was given Percocet 5mg half hour before procedure and took another 5 mg pill when starting. I ended up taking another 5mg about an hour later, I couldn't tell if it helped or not. I definitely would recommend having Valium 45 min before procedure along with pain Meds. I wish they had told me this was an option! It was extremely painful to me, esp when they hit nerves. The first round was the top layer and the lady who did it was rotating between sites to give a break to the area. Then the doctor came in to do the deep area, one cheek was 122 pulses, I was shaking and crying, yes crying. Just on that cheek. The other areas were also painful but that was almost unbearable to me. He was working fast and not giving me breaks and that would have been better. The ones around the eyes were like described in other posts, like hitting a nerve, or a sharp cold freeze headache. It's just when the laser zaps. I felt like the fly hitting the zapper. 946 total zaps. I hope the results will be worth it but sounds like I need to wait 3 months to know for sure. I'm 46 and eyes drooping a bit but mostly I hate the sagging loose skin under neck. Not prepared to do a facelift I don't have time to be out of work for recovery. That was great to not have anyone tell I had a procedure done yesterday when I walked out of the clinic. My face is still numb, not sure if that's from the numbing cream, doesn't hurt and no redness. I'm hoping this puts off a facelift for 3-5 years. I do have sensitive skin/nerves, Botox even hurts me. I don't think I'm a wimp in any way, everyone experiences pain differently. I've had 8 major surgeries due to female issues, stitches in my mouth without getting numbed, this procedure hurt! Just do Valium and pain Meds before in case. Sorry I can't tell you if it worked for me or not, I will update when I see or don't see results!

I hear from everyone that it is very painful. When I have a colonoscopy, I demand I be put out, not just in some twilight zone, and do the same when I had gum surgery (although for that, I didn't have to ask, they just do it.) So why on earth don't they do the same for something so painful as Ultherapy? Anyone have an answer?? I wouldn't even consider it just because of the pain.

Day 13 is the first day my face is not numb or sore

CrazyCatGirl
After day three my face felt sore and numb every single day. It continued, with a tiny reduction, every single day all the way up to day 13 when it has finally all gone away. The soreness felt like when you hit yourself on a piece of furniture and get a bruise. I would only feel it when I would touch the areas that were treated so that would be, in the morning and at night when washing my face and applying lotion, applying makeup and then when I would try to lay on any part of my face(I'm a side or stomach sleeper sometimes). It was very uncomfortable for me to force myself to only sleep on my back. By the way, the dryness slowly went away but that is because I would moisturize with heavy moisturizer day and night from day 3 to about day 10. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been bad because on day's 3 to about day 6 my skin felt quite dry to the touch right after I would wash it.
