"Busy" botanical tattoo

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and recently got a tattoo that I'm having a hard time getting comfortable with. I feel it doesn't go well the tattoo above it and it feels too busy on my arm. It's linework flowers, which I thought I really wanted, but it turns out I like tattoos that look like tattoos! I have reaearched laser (which I've never done with any other tattoo), but I'm also wondering if I just neee to get used to it or accept it. Reading everyone'a stories here has been helpful but I can't shake this feeling. I feel even more shameful for this because I'm a psychotherapist and I'm supposed to be helping others with anxiety and accepting themselves. Ugh. I've also thought about having it shaded so it looks a bit less organic, but I don't want to do anything that will make it harder to remove if i go that route. Also, I should say that if I do have it removed, I'll just be removing what's above and on my elbow area because that's what looks weird with my other tattoo. M I'm pretty okay with what's on my forearm. Any thoughts?

I have to say that no one can decide but you , give yourself time as a new piece can come as quite a shock as I know from experience! I was so consumed by it and anxious at the beginning but now I barely think about it , yes I wish it wasn't there but I've accepted it as part of me

That is an absolutely gorgeous tattoo! I know how you feel and I'm in the process of removing a very well done tattoo as well because of the anxious feelings I have. Even with so many people telling me how much they love my tattoo I can't make myself believe it. Make the decision that will make you happy ultimately. But I think that looks amazing!

Thank you! Your tattoo is also lovely and well done! I decided today to have mine faded for a cover up that's more my style. There's just too much going on in this tattoo for me. I feel better already and can't wait to see what becomes of this arm in a year or so. :)

Hi, I don't think there's anything wrong with being anxious and having doubts, being a psychotherapist doesn't make you any less human :) Personally I think the tattoo looks pretty but only you can decide whether it's 'you' or not. Give yourself some time to think about it and do keep us updated! All the best!

Day of treatment
First session down
So, I went for a consultation today and walked away with a hot, stingy arm. I felt really comfortable with the shop and I feel certain that this tattoo is not the one I want, even though it's beautiful. I'm going to have it faded over about 4 sessions and then get the tattoo I should have gotten at first. I have an artist that I really trust on standby for the cover up and that feels really good. My anxiety actually went way down once I gave myself permission to do something about it, even if that meant keeping the tattoo. I know I could live with it, I just don't want to! I've attached a couple of pictures, but there's not much to see since I got laser today. My tech uses the PiQo4 and it costs $150 per session. I think it would have cost more, but he's matching a quote I got from another place in town. Also, it hurt like hell, but at least it was brief. I consider myself to be pretty tough and this was bad. It felt terrible during and then all I wanted was an ice pack for after. It's been about 4 hours since my treatment and I'm hardly noticing it now. I think the thin lines definitely help make the after care easier than for some on here. I don't know how the folks with big, bold stuff are doing it.

It is crazy how well we think we can handle pain until we go and get a tattoo removed!!

Hello! I was wondering how old (new) was the tattoo before you had your first laser treatment?

Still a bit swollen and a few blisters, but I'm pain free, which is great.

My tattoo was only about 6 weeks old when I got the first treatment. It's probably better to wait a bit longer, but because the lines were thin he thought I was healed enough to go for it.
Hi there! I'm really glad that you found us and decided to reach out for some feedback. I looked at your photos before reading your story, and my first reaction to your tattoo was "it's a shame she doesn't like her tattoo, it's so pretty." Feeling conflicted over a new tattoo is very common, they are very bold when they are fresh and don't blend well with your skin until they fully heal and set. I would suggest more time and just leaving it as is before making any adjustments.
Keep us posted on how you're feeling and for now, embrace your beautiful tattoo and see if you begin to feel more comfortable with it.
I hope you find more feedback and support here -- I'll check in on you later. :)
