Please don't get this surgery done. Unless you have over 100 lbs to lose. I wanted to only lose 80 lbs. This surgery is terribly overrated. The incisions are terrible, the food you can eat is disgusting. I have chosen to not eat at all because I am tired of jello and cream of anything soups. And the pain is terrible. I refuse to be a vegetable and take lots of pain meds to just lay there and miss out on even more things with my family. I honestly hate this. Please don't do it. Go to a gym and get some diet and exercise regime going.....you will be a lot happier. My doctor was great but its the procedure that is well overrated.

This is why everyone should be able to do the Mini Gastric Bypass. It has the highest statistical weight loss results and the lowest statistical risk of complications. You're released the next day. I went back to eating normal foods in a couple of weeks and have lost 56 pounds in 3 1/2 months eating any foods I want (about a third of the volume as before). I am sad for people who have to do the Roux en Y. It should be outlawed. But some people have to do it because it's the only surgery their insurance will cover. We really need to get this changed and get our voices heard. Roux en Y has a 28% complication rate requiring rehospitalization, and many people gain the weight back. Women are the people primarily affected. It's a serious political issue.

UPDATE: At one year I lost 115 pounds. It has been two years now and the weight is still stable. I can eat anything I want, like a normal person--I just feel satisfied like a normal person instead of having to eat so much. I love this surgery.

How are you doing now? I've had lots of complications after my surgery such as pneumonia, ulcers and infections, but i dont regret it, so im very curious how your doing today?
Hi there,
I'm sorry you're having a rough time at the moment. There is definitely a period of regret with this surgery, that most people go through. Mine lasted for about the first 2 weeks, but once I got that out f the way, things got better.
You have to make sure you're taking in enough liquid though, so please keep drinking. Dehydrating will only prolong the recovery period.
We're here to support you and help in any way we can.
