I am 57 yo and had my implants put in @ 1998. I had them put in for the same reason most women who are flat chested do (A cup), self esteem issues (didn't realize that at the time) and was always asked why I was so flat chested or where did your boobs go and yes was referred to as "young man". I didn't go large, just enough to be a full B cup. However, once I had them, I never felt totally comfortable with them. Yes, I finally had boobs but they were just not me and I found myself again always uncomfortable with my boobs watching what I wore and not to hug anyone to close. Not sure which was worse, flat chested or fake boobs. I am an ironman triathlete with autoimmune issues that have gotten worse over the years and then in late 2014 diagnosed with Lyme Disease. So trying to sort out all these issues, I didn't know for sure if the implants were causing some of my health issues. So when I moved to Austin, I started investigating my options as I thought that if I did explant, that it would look so horrible. I found this site and everyone on here really impressed me and after contacting 3 PS, I visited Dr. Whitfield's office. What an amazing staff and person. They made me feel very comfortable, listened to me and my concerns about the surgery. There was no pressure or push for a lift or refit of implants. I didn't care for the PSs that pushed for more surgery. The less the better was my motto. I had my explant on May 21st with minimal anesthesia as this makes me vomit and feel horrible for days. The procedure took about 40 minutes, they slipped right out. Was cut under the breast where the other incision was. I woke up the next day and felt ok, no pain or much discomfort at all. Nothing compared to when they were put in. Now I just had my post op check-up and everything looks great and I can resume my normal activities including biking and running. No swimming for awhile as the incisions need to heal. I didn't have any drains. My boobs looked a bit flat and squishy the next day. 8 days later they have filled out some and don't look all that bad. A little better than before the implants.

I have read numerous stories on this site and each one is a bit different. I am just happy and thankful now that they are removed. They actually don't look bad. Maybe a tad larger than they were originally but hey small boobs are in and I feel like me again. Tops fit better now too. I am still an A cup but happy to be me. I do have auto immune issues and not sure if things will improve since the implants are out or not. I do know my rashes have cleared up this week.

I highly recommend Dr. Robert Whitfield and his staff at Breast and Body center of Austin.

Dr. Whitfield was awesome. His staff was as well. They listened to my concerns and did not pressure me or try to convince me of things I didn't need. Actually they made this whole process for me very comfortable and easy as it was a difficult decision and process for me personally.
