I had the same surgery three years ago but I wanted a little refreshing, even at the risk of being a surgery addict. I don't intend to get anymore for at least five years. After all, these procedures aren't intended to last a lifetime. Ok, I don't know fully what the doc did because it is only day 5 of recovery and the stitches won't come out until tomorrow. I have stitches under the chin and right next to the ears. I will find out exactly then.

I had drains which I had the last time. It' s creepy but more efficient than allowing the body to absorp all that extra fluid n I think it aids in the healing process. There was edema under one eye and then the other. Then a red band-like thing around the front drain. At first, it scared me cuz I didn't know what exactly a drain was. I thought it just was taped to a point or two in the back f the head.

What helped was having a nurse's aid who was very experienced n stayed side-by-side with me in the king-sized bed set-up I had prepared. It was cray-cray to think that a friend or any adult could do such a job. If you can afford it. Get it. Even a liscensed LVN so you will feel super confident. She will not freak out about milking the drains or making phone calls about your progress. You will be in no condition to be alone in any way.

My doc who is super experienced and whose lifestyle reflects his artistry and skill. I would never go to a doc who did look good herself or himself...something like like walking the walk. He met me three days after surgery on a Sunday to remove the drains. Yay. My nurse aide drove me n it was over in a flash n I felt nothing.

Now I'm allowing the normal bruising to continue healing. Will keep u posted

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf! How is this recovery compared to your past two?

I think I'm a good healer cuz I try to always eat well. Have to admit that I had a few setbacks and thus had about 10 extra pounds (or more, depending on your standards) but I was just inside Bmi of 25. But luckily it didn't affect my healing. I even had a complication after surgery due to coughing but my PS did the evacuation and it is as if it never happened. I'm also close to 60 years old. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be in a great shape before you go in for surgery. It gives you so many more advantages. That and a great surgeon of course.

Also had breast lift

I had three procedures at once, just was not up to writing about it all at one sitting. Had some stitches taken out yesterday but not all of them. I had the lollipop incision and it looks very good. The healing on everything is going well. I have been taking arnica and have always been a fitness enthusiasist so I think my good habits play an important role in the healing process. I will post some pix later

One week results after breast lift, neck n mini face lift

Happy to report healing is going well. I'm wearing my chin strap. Been out briefly to get food and supplies....taken out by a friend. It was nice but walking like a robot does cause people to stare. Otherwise I'm in bed the entire time so everything can heal properly without stress. Riding in a car CAN be stress since u can't turn ur head or look around. Was so glad to get back home to the quiet restful environment.

Today I willl go back to getting my green juices because comfort food like garlic cheese grits and mashed potatoes are probably not as good for my body. Important thing is not to open mouth very wide. Even with the low fat frozen Greek yoghurt, I have managed to lose four pounds. Wanted to lose weight before surgery but that didn't happen. Here are some one week photos.

Hi! Thank you for your post! How long did you have drains in? Did you have to wear the thick gauze strap prior to the elastic one?

Sorry so late with reply. Yes I did. I also bought some headbands (stretchy type) to to keep everything tight. Yes. I hate drains n maybe that was the worst part cuz of blood pooling n swelling. I had to milk them regularly. Onlybacweek I think n then they get removed.
