Onto Tray 10

Today I went to pick up trays 10 and 11. While at the dentist, he ground spaces between five of my upper teeth. It wasn't at all bad - didn't hurt, and not as noisy as I had been led to believe. Now I can see things happening and am getting excited. By tray 16 my top teeth should be just about straight, but my bottom teeth will take twice as long. Am happy with how things are going ????.

Wow - you're doing really well. I can't wait to be on Tray 10 but it feels like a long way away (I'm on Tray 2). Hopefully the time will go quickly and I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. Glad to hear IPR wasn't too bad - I've got that in a few weeks time :)
Time does go quickly and once you can feel and see some changes it'll all be worth it. This morning I can really feel these trays are doing something!
Yay, double digits! Funny how you can feel the exact teeth being targeted, right? Now that I'm done, I think it's the only thing I will miss about the trays, that feeling of things moving along in an orderly fashion. I'm now on daily retainer wear, so it's great that it's all over, but rather ho-hum cos I still have to wear them for 3 months but without any visual benefit. (Except, of course, protecting my investment....) !
I wonder why retainers have to be worn for three months. Do you still have to have the attachments on your teeth? Is it just night time or day wear as well?
Well done for coming to the end - you must have a lovely smile now
It's to give the tooth roots a chance to "root" into their final space. Teeth have a tendency to want to scoot tight back to where they came from, hence it is recommended to keep the trays in daily for at least 3 months in their final position before going to nighttime only wear....which is for life. I will be updating my review with pics as soon as I finish my whitening. :)
Thanks for the information and I can see that now. Did you have to wait till the end of the three months before getting the attachments removed? Looking forward to seeing your final results. Well done.
No attachments anymore. Got them removed when I went to pick up my retainers last week. Retainers have no attachment bubbles. Teeth are nice and smooth now!!

On my 5th trays

Yes, one week into my 5th set of trays and wish I could see even a small change - but not yet. I've found the hardest part going out for a coffee, lunch, dinner and having to take them out for a period of time. I'm sure I haven't had them in for 22 hours each day. Even so the dentist was pleased with how the trays were fitting a couple of weeks ago. One positive thing is my teeth have never been cleaner. Brushing three times a day and flossing twice a day my gums are very healthy. Back to the dentist next week for trays 6 & 7.

Hi I'm about 2 weeks ahead of you. My ortho said I won't see much backhand until tray 17! Have to stay focused. I am also social and find the cocktail hour the hardest :). We got this!
Hi Invizy, now have my sixth trays in (yesterday) and I do like the tight feeling and mild discomfort as it makes me think things will be moving. My dentist says the tooth shaving will start at tray 16 and then will see things happening. We certainly have got this!
Hi Bessie5 , I'm in Perth, Aus and I'm currently on tray 21/34. I didn't really see changes for the first 5/6 trays but I sure felt it! bottom and top teeth not meeting like they used to. so it is happening, just ever so subtly. Ialso had the same sort of issues as you, we are fairly social, but over time, you will get to know your way around these pesky little trays and the hold they have over you! (just kidding, it gets easier!) I have become adept at slipping them out behind a napkin at the table if with friends who know what I'm doing and I've found all sorts of ways to give them a quick clean in the bathroom to pop them back in, even if it means another good clean of teeth and trays when I get home!
I find that often I've got them out for longer than the 2 hours total, but at the end of the day, I'd rather leave them out another hour if I cant go and clean teeth n trays, than put them back in not clean. if I've had them out for a long while one day, then I try and catch up my time over the next few days. but I had them out for over 5 hours on my son's wedding day and no problems! my teeth are moving just as the plan said they would, with no issues. So good luck with your journey and I wish you all the best....before long you will be smiling with pride! cheers Karen
How are you getting on Karen? Are you pleased with results? I've just started tray 9, and next time I go to the dentist I have to have my teeth shav d to make some more room. Not worth posting photos yet! Bessie5
Hi Bessie5, I am going really well. and very pleased so far, every time I am going to start a new set I get my first ones out and compare the two. That way I can see just how far I have come, because I have forgotten how bad they really were, I take a pic every 2 weeks too. I am currently on 24/34 so the end is nigh! I have had IPR done a few times now, and due for another session next week, its really no bother, just takes a moment and doesn't hurt at all. So you must be ready to post a new pic perhaps? cos I'm sure we can all see the change. Are you still coping OK with the social aspect? Its all manageable, I wont let these little buggers rule my life totally!
Hi there, good to get your update and you sound very positive with how it's all going. Now I'm not worried about IPR after you reassurance that it isn't any problem. So next Monday is D-day for that. Do you have problems with your teeth yellowing? I'd love to be able to get mine bleached but that's quite a way away. Will post a photo after Monday. Take care. June
Sounds like you are doing really well! I'm only on tray 1 and the last 2 weeks have gone soooo slowly - I am reassured by all the people that say that it soon starts to fly by. I think the first few months must be the hardest when you don't see any changes but you sound really positive. Good luck :)
Won't it be great when we look back in a years time and all the hard work has been done. Can't wait ! Even at my age I still want to improve myself - why not, we only live once. Good luck to you too
Hi! I'm at the tail end of my treatment, waiting for my retainers to come in after 38 initial trays followed by 15 refinement ones. Hang in there, You will feel the changes much more quickly than you see them. These things do work, and are worth all the brushing, flossing, doing without snacks, etc etc etc. The thing I miss most is sipping coffee throughout the day, but as I need to wear the retainers full time for another 3 months, I will just have to wait a little bit longer......sigh!
Gosh it seems to go on longer than we anticipate. I'm getting trays 10/11 on Monday - always look forward to these appointments. Will post a photo and hope to see a little change
Well done for getting through 38 trays so far!

End of third trays

I'm nearly at the end of the third set of trays (3/31). I am feeling impatient and would love to see just a little change - but nothing yet.

So far I have found it difficult to wear them for the 22 hours as I seem to be very social since I started Invisalign and meals out at people's homes and sitting around the dining table for a couple of hours has been very frustrating.

When I last visited the Dentist he seemed pleased with how the trays were fitting, and now I can't wait for Tuesday when I start on the fourth trays.

I have had a few days of anvery sore inner cheek and tongue where the bottom tray has rubbed and cut, and I have used a nail file to try and even out the sharp edge. I find it sore if I have to talk a lot ????! I also lisp slightly even after these weeks and am surprised as I thought I'd get over this quickly.

Anyway onwards and upwards - a battle worth fighting!

Cheers all my Invisalign friends ????
