So after years of going back and forth between hernia repair and tummy tuck with hernia repair; I have decided to go ahead with my tummy tuck. I am so excited. I compared 3 of whom I consider the best of Atlanta, and made my decision this past week. Dr. John Connors. I am so confident in my decision and excited to get this going.

I gained 80 lbs with each of my boys; who are now 6 and 3 years old. I lost about 60-80 both times; and I have been stuck around 15 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight for over 2 years now. I run 16 miles a week. Play tennis 2-3 times per week. I always watch what I eat, and no matter what I do, my tummy never changes.

My first priority when choosing my doctor was one who could best handle my hernia. So, I chose a double board certified physician. Second, I wanted to have a low scar and a really feminine look; I am not looking to have a Barbie belly; I just want a normal stomach. My doctor's work is amazing and beautiful. Third, I wanted to feel comfortable to be able to say exactly what I needed throughout the process and I felt the most comfortable with the staff at Dr. Connor's office.

All of that said, I am 100 percent sure I chose the right doctor for me; I am beyond excited for my hernia to be gone, excited to one day be able to sleep without being in pain from my hernia, and excited to say adios to this belly flap!! I couldn't be luckier to have my husband and family totally on board.

I'll follow you too!! Congrats on making your choice! I am so comfortable with Dr. Connors and a big reason I chose him was his general surgery skill level with hernias. We are in good hands!!

Time is moving so slowly - Tummy Tuck, Hernia repair, muscle repair.

Now that I have chosen my wonderful doctor, the time is going by so slowly. I guess its good; I need to get things in order. The garage is cleaned and organized, my sons closets purged and organized, all back to school stuff is ready to go, and I am 90 percent done with my pre-surgery shopping. Working hard to lose some more weight to make my surgery even better. Some of the things I have ordered are:

1. new button up pjs
2. surgery day outfit
3. new bra and comfy panties
4. Go Girl - that should be interesting?!
5. Gauze, gloves, neosporin, arnica tablets
6. Stool softeners, Natural Calm Magnesium drink
7. Adjustable Shower bench
8. Recliner will be moved to my bedroom.

What essentials am I missing??!

I am such a planner, now I am trying to schedule who can help us at the house, my boys have soccer and football starting; someone will need to get my youngest from preschool and my oldest from the bus stop. Not to mention, figuring out my work schedule to get all of my major projects completed by my surgery date.

I have cut costs to make the burn of paying for the surgery not sting as much and I am scared at how I will manage once I am down for surgery. I have cleaners who come to the house every other week and I stopped service to save money each month. My way of feeling less guilty about the cost I guess. But with 2 wild boys; I'm so scared at what my home will be like after 2 weeks being out of commission. If you have boys, boys + bathrooms = gross.

Long story short. The waiting game is stressing me out. I am more worried about everything else than I am myself and the surgery. I am ready ALREADY!

Waiting is so tough! I am on this site daily trying to read up so I'm prepared. When is your procedure? Mine is Sept 14 and I can't wait! I too, am pretty organized so far. You mentioned moving your recliner upstairs. I may end up doing the same but for now am planning on trying to go back and forth between my bed and a zero gravity chair that I have yet to take out of the box. Do you have any reservations about getting upstairs immediately following surgery? I plan on going to my bedroom and staying there but am worried about negotiating a set of stairs on surgery day...?? I will ask my doctor at pre op what he thinks. I am super confident in this doc and I know I will be in good hands with my Mom and husband helping. I really enjoy reading your posts- I hope you continue to get healthy and organized and the time flies by!!

thanks! My surgery is September 25th and a lifetime away ;) . I asked my doctor about the stairs and he said as long as I had help I would be fine. Good thing is we have a recliner in the living room and one in the bonus room, I'll have my husband move the bonus room one to my room and then if for some reason, if it's a no-go on the stairs I can just camp out in the den. Ha! We shall see I guess. Luckily, the plan is for my boys to be away the weekend following my Friday surgery so I don't have to worry about scaring them.
So good you will have lots of help!! still trying to work that out. My husband is insisting on being superman and doing it all but I don't know about that!

The Urge to Splurge

georgiagirl123
I think about my surgery 50 times a day. It's crazy. I am so excited I want to shout it from the rooftops!! I got the urge yesterday to tell the girl at Starbucks HEY I"M GETTING A TUMMY TUCK IN 2 MONTHS!!; I had to tell myself; "no that would be strange...could you imagine someone randomly telling YOU that!?? Latte please and a tummy tuck!!"

I am one of those people that if you tell me something private, I can put it away in a vault in my brain (I will even forget the secret), but when it comes to myself, I am an open book. I realized this week I need to start reigning myself in. I have told my family, 5 best girlfriends and a couple ppl on my tennis team. Sort of a lot. It's hard!

For the next month and 3 weeks, I am promising myself to keep my mouth closed. So I can enjoy my new tummy on the flat side without judgement.

When is your surgery date? I am actually getting a tummy tuck by the same dr here in Atlanta! My surgery date is September 8th and I feel the same way....I can't wait to get it done! I'm also getting a breast augmentation at the same time though, so I'm nervous about the pain. I will start posting my journey on here soon.

vallane12, I'm curious as to what Dr. C charged you for your procedure? Looks like georgiagirl123's procedure was $9,200 (including anesthesia and facility fee?). I was quoted in July 2015 $5500 for the TT (with muscle repair/tightening) + $1800 for lipo of the flanks + $4575
for facility/anesthesia. $11,875 for less work...I'm finding that my quote is $2,000-$3,000 more than other people were quoted during the same period from the same doctor, which is why I'm curious of
what you were quoted (5'2, 145 lbs, so not talking overly extensive work)

I have very similar feelings! I am not telling any friends but I have to keep reminding myself to stay strong and not let it out. If I do tell them it will be after I am all healed. I don't want even the thought that they may be judging my decision to taint the reasons why I am going forward with this big step. I have 6 wks to go! I'm so excited and i have noticed my mind set has changed. I'm not getting bummed out about my fluffy belly when it spills over my pants because I know I have finally moved forward with the procedure to fix it. It will be only 6 more weeks and then I won't have to worry about it again. So I am kind of letting it all hang out now and not letting it affect my mood.
I hope the time flies by for us!

It's funny you say that! The week before my husband finally agreed to my tummy tuck, I had already made my mind up that I wanted to do it. I would hang out in the house in my sports bra and workout shorts and let it all hang out. My husband was joking with me and my boys kept pushing my belly button in amusement. I didn't care one bit. Previously I would have never walked around the house that way. Needless to say my whole family was on board after staring at my belly day in and day out. Teehee. Hubby told me he hasn't seen me this happy in a long time.

Funny to read this - once I had my consult appointment I too started to let it hang out. My family was commenting about it and I would say this is why I think it should be removed. :) worked well as after my consult I shared with them I was seriously considering having it done. They all agreed I should. I know I didn't need their approval but is nice to know I have their support. BTW I did tell a lady in the elevator when leaving my Drs office. Tummy Tuck time
