I decided to get Smart Lipo in August from Dr....
I decided to get Smart Lipo in August from Dr. Okoro's office in August. For many years my armpt (axila) fat has bothered me. After inquring about options on the phone, the office manager encouraged me to come in for a Smart Lipo consultation. I had many upcoming events, friends' weddings, and my own wedding coming up, and wanted to wear strapless dresses without the armpit "bulge".
During my consultation, I met with Uma, the PA that works with Dr. Okoro. She said that they could remove the armpit fat, but that I should also get other areas done to make the surgery worth the time and cost. So, I was talked into also doing my flanks and back bra roll.
$4300 and two weeks later , I underwent the procedure. Recovery was typical, soreness, swelling, but not too bad. The day after the procedure, Dr. Okoro and Uma both called to check on me. I told them I was feeling fine, but that I wasn't feeling any soreness under my armpits, like the other areas. They confirmed that they had indeed treated that area.
A week later, I expressed my concern to Uma during my follow up visit that my armpit seemed to not have changed, while I could notice changes in the other treated areas. She showed me the incisions in the back of my armpit and on my sides, and said that she watched Dr. Okoro do lipo in the armpit area.
She said not to worry, that it takes time to notice the changes.
THEN during my 6 week (supposed to be 1 month) follow up with Dr. Okoro himself, I told him again that I was concerned about the lack of change in the armpit. He then told me "that's because I didn't do surgery in that area."
I was shocked by this, considering that the only reason I wanted lipo in the first place, was for my armpits. The other areas were just an added bonus. Dr. Okoro said the only thing I could do is get more lipo. He said he would treat the area at a very discounted cost considering the error.
To my dismay, the new estimate for the untreated area was $2900. To treat an area that they were supposed to treat in the first place. I am utterly disappointed, to say the least. I wish I had never gotten the lipo. I got something totally different than what I clearly asked for in the first place.
Also, don't get the CoolSculpting at Dr. Okoro's office. I wasted another $1200 on my bra roll earlier this year prior to lipo, and no results.
