One Year! 80lbs gone!!

WORTH IT$13,000
So it's been a year since I decided to have the gastric sleeve surgery! What an amazing journey! I've lost 80 lbs and feel amazing - I haven't looked or felt this good in over 20 years! The best part is that I no longer have to take medications and I don't have any body pain. So grateful for this and the support of my family and friends. It's been a transformation. Happy New Year!!

Congratulations to you!! Thank you for posting your success. I'm getting sleeved January 19th after having lapband failure. I am so excited for this journey!! I worked so hard trying to make the lapband work for me. I hope this sleeve does the trick! Keep up the good work.
I will be getting VSG in a few weeks. Can you offer any pre and post suggestions.
Have you noticed any side effects since having the sleeve? I keep reading about people having heartburn that they have to take medicine for every day, which is something I don't want to have to do.
How much did u start out at? Im asking cause i weigh 228 and was windering?
I love your photographs - you DO look fantastic! Are you following an exercise routine of any kind? Any surprises that you've found now that you're a year out? Any sage advice for those of us not so far along? I'm almost 4 months post-sleeve myself

Day 4

Feeling better! Walked around the block today - having trouble with my protein and fluid intake which I think is normal - down 11 lbs since the pre-op diet.

I've been thinking about having weight loss...

I've been thinking about having weight loss surgery since the lap band came out. I liked the idea that it didn't mess with my intestines. I decided to try to lose the weight on my own and give myself one more chance to do it the "right" way. Hired a trainer, ate nothing, and lost about 30lbs, got bored, gained it right back so here I am again. Sound familiar? I started to do research when I heard about the sleeve - and then went to a workshop. It was then that I decided to have the surgery - when my doctor said you will never lose the weight on your own. Obesity is a disease and the sleeve is a tool that helps you lose the weight forever. I can't even imagine being thin. So I went on the journey of multiple doctors visits, a psych eval, and sessions with a therapist to make sure I was making the right decision. I am still scared to death - but I am determined and happy about this decision.

Doing the pre-op liquid diet - so hard - I am trying to stay focused! Surgery is 12/8. Wish me luck!

Oh you won't need luck, you'll have a fine surgeon and are taking a proven successful journey. I'm just 6 weeks post op but that constant battle in my head about what I should not eat yet did, has ended. You are right, it's a tool, an excellent tool but we all need to play our part using it right. My best wishes for a speedy recovery on the 8th, and enjoy the first step to a healthier slimmer you.
You are my hero! I'm having surgery on dec. 30. A new year is ahead for me. Scared and excited at the same time. Plboydston
