I am a 37 year old female. I am scheduled for the gastric sleeve in March 2015. My surgery is through true results in Atlanta. Everything has been easy so far ?. My insurance (Aetna) covers everything except $250 (wooohooo)which is a facility copay. I am currently 257lbs. My heaviest weight was 350 lbs. I must 90 lbs on my own but have stalled. I am excited about starting this new journey. True Results had been exceptional. I only need four months of medical documentation. I can't wait to start this new journey. I have an MD appointment tomorrow for sleep study referral. Cleared by cardiologist already. ENT appointment tomorrow.

Everything done, cardiologist has cleared me, endoscopy scheduled for next week, sleep study referral completed, PCP clearance DENIED.. Due to my anemia. So I won't be discouraged. I will simply push through and move forward. My hemoglobin is to low for surgery... This is way to much to type... Sooooooooooo simply I will get my levels up and move forward. Nothing is going to stop me from making me healthier. ????

Hello everyone
Finally received my surgery date Jan 26! I know the pre surgery diet starts when you are two week away from your surgery but I'm starting today. My doctors appointment was yesterday. My Insurance has approved me for the sleeves embarrassed the procedure I selected however I have a history of a few acid reflux episode so my surgeon wants to do a bungee I want me to see if there's any damage if no damage then I will proceed with th however if there is evidence of damage from acid reflux then he highly suggest the gastric bypass procedure I prefer to sleeve because I experienced severe knee pain due to my osteoarthritis with the sleep I can take an anti-inflammatory if I go with the gastric bypass I have to stop my anti inflammatory but anyhow we'll see what happens I'm excited about starting a new diet I'm excited about surgeryI have moments of anxiety thinking about the surgery but it's not overwhelming surprisingly I thank God my husband has taken a 180 on his attitude about the surgery and has become extremely supportiveI have two teenage daughters and they are excited for me also my main support through this entire journey has been my brother who had a lap band 10 years ago and lost over 150 poundsso I'm just sharing if anybody has any comments I look forward to hearing from you

Fdwalker, it's been quite a long journey for you to your op date, but now it's almost here. I am very pleased you have your husband and daughters support, I'm sure it's easier to have everyone close to you with you on this. It's odd how many Drs differ, I have acid reflux and Barrett's Osephegus, yet the sleeve works for me very well and I take Mobic daily (anti inflammatory) fit severe arthritis and could not manage without it. I'd hope for a loss less pain as I lose weight but not really noticing that yet, but then very slim people suffer painful arthritis, so I may just lessen the walking pain.

Lakeesha! Do you have any iron skillets? If so, cook in them. Here's what to eat to get your hemoglobin up: red meat, organ meat such as kidney and livers, beans,black-eyed peas, lentils, COOKED dark green leafy vegetables, such as collards, spinach and kale, dried prunes, dried raisins and egg yolks. And citrus fruits as they help iron to be absorbed. And take b-complex for the same reason. Good luck!
