Tip swelling going down and nose straightening out

It is pretty crazy to compare my nose from 2.5 weeks post op to just over 4 months post op. My nose scared the heck out of me at 2.5 weeks. It looked crooked and completely strange. The tip was a ball that didn't look integrated with the rest of my nose, and the whole thing looked completely crooked and wonky. Now at over 4 months, my nose looks straight and the tip is looking much more normal. I've attached a pic to compare. I know I still have 8 more months to go before we're supposed to completely judge, but for those freaking out at an early stage, try to be patient. Trust me, I know it's hard, but time really does fix a lot...even stuff that seems like there is no way it can get better.

This is incredible... wow! This really shows you that it takes patience to see your final results. You wouldn't think looking at your 2.5 week photo that it would transform into your 4 month photo. Stunning :) I'm happy it's coming together and looking great! This is an excellent example to remind us all to be patient. Thanks for posting :)

Wow, what a difference. Thanks for posting these, it's really nice to see the progress. In your 2.5 week picture your nose doesn't look that swollen, but clearly it was, because it looks totally different in the 5 month picture. Fantastic results, congrats!

Wow! The filler really did the trick! It looks beautiful. How's the profile?

Thanks! Yes, at this point I am curious if it's the filler making it look so straight, or if it is just straightening out with the swelling going down. I guess I'll find out after the filler dissolves eventually! I'll post some profile pics soon. I do wish it was shorter, but overall it is better than before. My husband reminds me that perhaps if it was shorter I'd think it was too short for my face and to stop assuming. I have a long face, so I can see how a nose that might be considered a cute short nose might actually look bad on me. So, instead of imagining that a short nose would be better, when in fact it might be worse, I am appreciating it where it's at now. I would be devastated if I felt my nose looked too short, because I know that building up a nose is much harder than bringing down the size. So, I find comfort in knowing that if I ever do choose to still make it smaller it's easily possible. I'd hate to feel like my nose got butchered and over -reduced and needing a much more complicated revision to build it back up. I've read several doctors who say that nose surgery is often a two-step process, and that that approach is better than an overly aggressive first attempt. I don't think I'll need a second surgery at the end of the day, but if so, I still have a good nose structure to make that relatively uncomplicated.

Veryy true! I would rather it be too big than too little. That was my fear going in, that I would have too drastic of a deprojection or rotation, making it obvious I had something done. I have often thought that about my nose, too, since it had so many things that needed to be addressed in surgery. Perhaps it would require two surgeries to address the secondary issues once the other ones are fixed and healed. How long before your filler dissolves?

It looks great! How long does the filler last? So happy for you!!
December 16, 2014
Thanks! Hoping it'll last 6 months - 1 year+ in the nose area (since nose doesn't really move much so it lasts longer)

How are you doing? How's your nose?

A little filler made a big difference!

Hi ladies, I had my 3 month post-op visit with my surgeon today. He could see the indentations that were bothering me and how they were making my nose look slightly crooked. He said that we'll evaluate everything after 1 year to see how the final result looks, but in the meantime to make me happy he could inject some filler. He used a tiny bit of Restylane in two areas. Now when I look at my nose from the front I finally see a straight nose! yay! :D It should last up to a year, at which point we'll see the final results of my nose without the Restylane. We will chat then to determine if I want a more permanent fix or if I'm fine getting a few tiny Restylane injections once a year. Today marks the very first day that I've felt happy with my nose since my surgery (or ever!). It's amazing what a few tiny changes to contours of the nose can do to the overall look of it. I'm sure no one will notice the difference, but I do and that's all that matters. Finally happy with this nose on the center of my face! I'm also really happy to have chosen a surgeon who can admit to seeing little imperfections and is willing and able to tweak those things to make them look better.
