I suffered from hyperhidrosis since I was 12 y/o. I used to think it was not fair for life to give me this "lemon". How can I make lemonade with this type of lemon? I was already extremely shy, went through lots of verbal and psychological abuse during childhood, and hyperhidrosis just pushed me further down without giving me a chance to shine. I did not want to talk in public. I made it through school, college, and work as quietly as I could possibly be. Extra care and hygiene could not fight the side effects of excessive sweating (well, unless I changed my clothes every 30 minutes which would have been noticed in public). I tried everything, and I was bullied for something I did not choose to have, I feel this condition is actually mildly disabling. Not physically or mentally disabling, but more like emotionally and socially disabling as it blocked me from feeling empowered to do normal things, like everyone else. It had the very same effect of a mild disability - I did not choose to have it, and it was affecting my functionality so much, I felt I couldnt function like I should have... how can I ever hold a job as a sales person, a waiter, a hairdresser with this problem? Are you kidding me, the only type of job I could do like this is like in a cubicle, isolated!
I know everyone thought I did not know how to shower. To make things worse (yes, it can get worse), I also suffer from anxiety, and anxiety is a big enemy of armpit sweating. To give you an idea, during a bad anixiety day, the sweat circles in my shirt almost reached the waistline (that much!)
With the temporary help of strong antiperspirants (such as "Certain Dry"), I got some temporary relief. But every time my anxiety went up, it really didnt matter... I researched for a long term solutions and I was scared of the side effects. One day, I found out about miraDry, and I knew this was for me. I waited a year, and I dont know what took me so long: It's been life changing.
Yes, there is some discomfort associated with the procedure. But the wonderful team that took care of me, assured me they tweak the procedure to make it less painful, and I believe them. It was fairly easy, they were extremely sweet, and my life has changed 180 degrees.
After the procedure, I am dry most of the time. I can say that sweating has been 90% reduced. This means that I still sweat a tiny bit in my armpit area, but not enough to produce unwanted body odor. If my anxiety goes up, yes, I see an increase in sweating but it doesnt affect my personal image anymore. I was told a second round can get rid of the sweating 100%, but it is okay the way I feel now. I am actually glad I was left with a tiny bit of sweating as a reminder tha humans should sweat. It is just the excessive sweating that I did not want anymore, and I couldnt be happier. This is my real self: A year passed by, and there are no side effects other than less hair growing in that area. Isnt that wonderful? It is worth it. Go for it... it will change your life, too!

She was the sweetest woman. She talked to me through the whole procedure. She was sweet, patient, kind. She changed my life with kindness.
