Well, I was a thumb sucker and it resulted in a MAJOR open bite. Once before I went to see an orthodontist and he told me that he could definitely fix my teeth and open bite with traditional braces BUT he would have to BREAK my jaw!! yikes!!! However, I was desperate and willing to pay the $4,500 down (toward the $9,000 treatment plan). I had the money for the down payment and was about to make an appointment with this orthodontist when my husband suggested trying someone else first because he didn't want me to have to go through the jaw surgery. Sooooo, I did. This new orthodontist (Dr. Lindsey) was AWESOME!!!! He told me that he could fix the issue with Invisalign... Of course I'm thinking (and still thinking) Invisalign will NOT fix my bite, but what the heck, lol!! The cost was a little under $4,300 - which I already had on hand because of the other orthodontist price - so I was able to pay for treatment right then. Dr. Lindsey offered soooo many discounts, I was definitely please with the cost.
Then of course I had to wait about month to get the trays. Which was fine because it gave me more time to do my own research...
I read a lot of reviews that people didn't know about attachments, how getting the attachments hurt, how they can't eat.. so on and so forth... It ALMOST made me cancel my appointment and ask for my money back. HAHAHA
I'm glad I didn't cancel though because my experience was much different. Dr. Lindsey had already told me about the possibility of attachments (so I wasn't surprised). It also DID NOT hurt me at all. (Thank God!!). I do feel like eating will be a thing of the past though (lol!!). I mean I am really in the struggle getting these trays off - mainly the bottom one... But my own fear is the only thing hampering my eating.. It's like my teeth are not my own anymore and I'm scared I'm gonna chew something and mess up the attachments. I literally only ate hash browns this morning because I'm scared to eat (but again, not because of any pain - I just don't wanna mess anything up in my mouth).
Anyways, I'm super excited about this journey and am super excited to see my progress.. When I muster up some courage I will post pics of my teeth. :)
*P.S - A piece of the bottom tray scratches the area under my tongue - but this morning I put some dental wax over it and can you say WONDERFUL!!! I actually don't mind wearing them as long as nothing is poking me.
