How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Approved - never thought I'd get to say that!!

Well, after UHC initially denying coverage for surgery saying it wasn't "medically necessary", I wrote an appeal letter and I'll be darn if 10 days later (today) I found out that I am approved! I just couldn't believe it. I was getting ready to shell out (finance) about $10,000 and now it's going to cost me about $2,000 out of pocket. BIG difference. My surgery is less than two weeks away on 5/26 and now I'm kind of freaking out. Does anyone have suggestions on bras or after surgery or medical supplies like bandages that I may need? Trying to get it all together while I'm working 3 jobs, my regular fulltime and a couple of "extra PT" online jobs. Surgery will mean REST for me! lol

OMG - after years of wishing, planning, hoping, I finally had a consult with a dr. I REALLY liked on 4/7. Heck, I loved him AND all his office staff. The day I was in the "insurance girl" was out but I was told she would have my file to submit for insurance approval the very next Mon. (4/10) and that it would take 4-6 weeks to hear from insurance. SO, something made me check with insurance office last Fri. just to follow up and make sure they got paperwork from surgeon's office. Got reply today that they had not received anything. So, I call dr's office and spoke with receptionist. It was late today so "insurance girl" was out again. The receptionist told me she was so sorry but it looked like I had "fallen thru the cracks". Say what? Really? So two + weeks has gone by and I've done nothing but fall in a crack. She was real sweet and said she would be sure the "ins girl" took care of it tomorrow. Now I wonder how long this will take! I am on pins and needles waiting to hear if approved and I'm stuck in a crack! I don't know if this is an omen or what. I REALLY like this dr. but I am extremely bothered by the lack of whatever. All my life, it seems, I am falling in the cracks! Rant over. I want to get on with this and I thank all of you for sharing and having a place to come to. My ins. co. is United Healthcare in Atlanta. Does anyone have them and have any idea of how much more time I'm looking at now? Thanks and have a great night!
