WORTH IT
Dr. Connors was my 4th consultation, and I immediately knew he was my choice. He is serious about what he does, with just the right amount of sense of humor to ease any anxiety you may have. Two of the three previous doctors with whom I had a consultation told me that I should consider a periareolar mastopexy along with my implants because I have slightly herniated nipples. The last thing I wanted to do was mess with my nipples in any way. Dr. Connors told me I didn't need the lift, and said he'd do a crease incision, which was excellent news! His staff was also great! They're all very sweet and were available to answer questions my mom had while taking care of me the first 24 hrs after surgery.

Awesome! What did he charge you for your silicone implants? They look great! Thinking about scheduling a consultation with him as well.... he will be my 2nd doctor interview.

Curious if you got submuscular or subglandular implants. I, too, am big into crossfit and have my surgery scheduled for next month. Also, can you keep us updated on how your progress and fitness routine goes in the upcoming weeks? I'm a bit nervous about that.

Hi there! I went submuscular. The pros far outweigh the cons by going submuscular in my opinion. I did tell my doc I Crossfit, and he never suggested going subglandular. That being said, he requires that I take it easy and not dive right back into Crossfit. I'll have to ease my way back in. Next week, I go to my six week post op, and he's going to let me know what exercises I can start doing (weights, aerobic, etc.). I'd be happy to let you know my progress.
October 13, 2016
Great! I'm still planning on subglandular, but am starting off pretty small (32-B) with not much tissue in the upper pole, but my surgeon thinks it'll be ok because I am not going with more than 300 cc. Maybe even 250cc. Let me know how it goes for you and how you feel. I'm so glad I get to hear your experience! Plus, I'd LOVE to do a Spartan race sometime. Looks like a blast!

Oh Spartan race! Good luck with that. I'm sure you'll do great! Quick question: did you have multiple consultations before going with your doc? I'm curious to know if any others also agreed on subglandular.
October 16, 2016
I had two consultations, but did a lot of research before each one and picked the surgeons based on their prior work with other women who had similar lifestyles and body types as me. I did make it clear to each of the surgeons that I really didn't want to lose any strength in my upper body due to the implants, and both surgeons were familiar with crossfit and what it entails. I Rx most workouts and I don't want to lose all that progress and hard work. They both agreed that submuscular implants on me would become too distorted every time I activated my pecs (they would push the implants into my armpits). Given that I do crossfit several days a week, they both agreed that subglandular was the way to go. Also, I don't think I want more than 300cc, so that might make a difference in their opinions as well.

Hi there! I don't recall the exact number, but I'll find out at my next post-op in a few days. I know they told me HP or UHP would work on me if I wanted something a bit larger because I have a narrower chest. I want to say it was around 12, but I'll confirm and respond here

Thank you! :) I think I saw your pics on your review of him leading up to my BA, and I think your results are fantastic! I definitely think I made the right choice.
October 4, 2016
I am curious if your doc did any special surgical techniques begin that your very athletic, i.e. and internal bra? I ask because I too am athletic, had a BA 15 years ago, and with any push up, dips, bench press my breasts shoot into my armpits. I am due for a new BA and am looking for someone that has experience with athletes. You and canunmac's results look great!

Hi Michell! He did give me an internal bra. I'll be curious to see what happens once I'm able to start doing all the chest work again. What type of incision was your first BA? And thanks for the compliment! I'll be posting some pics soon of my progress over the past few weeks.
October 4, 2016
Fortunately mine were crease incisions as well, and the scars are barely visible. Thank you for sharing your journey! I wish I had known about all the info and support here before my first surgery. I hope you can get back to CF soon! ;)

You're quite welcome! You definitely have the support now for your 2nd BA. I hope I can get to CF soon, too! Please feel free to ask me any other questions.

Hi Michell, Just to let you know about excercising the chest, Dr. Connors still forbids me to do so. So don't count on getting implants under the muscle and being able to do CF. From what Ive read, most women get over the muscle when they compete or are very athletic. But I know there are down sides to that technique. So please talk to Dr. Connors about that. Good luck!

Thanks, cancunmic! I have also heard that many get over the muscle; however, I personally know 8 Crossfitters with implants under the muscle, and they report no problems. That said, I plan on following the docs orders and moving back into push-ups very, very slowly.
October 5, 2016
Good to know. It's always hard to give up working out for any length of time, but I guess its worth it for great results. Thanks for the info and taking time to reply. Best to you both.
October 5, 2016
Thanks again. Good luck. Wishing you many happy, hard WODs in your future. ;)

I guess it depends on the individuals muscles, I really dont like the way it feels when I do any chest excercises, I notice the implants push outwards when I do this, and what Dr.Connors told me, is that will cause displacement eventually. Good luck, and yes listen to the Dr..lol

One other thought..since I have implants now, i noticed that chest excercises really are not important anymore. I do arms, and it seems to work fine for me leaving out any chest. Of course I do all other parts of the body, and so I find it easy to stay away from any chest.

Great point, cancunmic! I was thinking the same thing. I never really did a ton of chest work except for push-ups, so I won't miss out on a lot cutting down on any chest work. I think it's totally doable to do Crossfit and other exercises without focusing on chest work.
