I started using botox (or Dysport) when I was 40, and I really needed it for my crowsfeet. Remember the pencil test, where we put a pencil under our boobs to see if the pencil stayed? Well I failed the pencil test with my crowsfeet at 40.

I am 55 years old now, and I will not stop until I just don't care anymore, which is highly unlikely since I had a facelift in 2013 and a tummy tuck in April 2014. After reading some reviews of horrifying botox reviews, I decided to post my own review with a few tips.
1. Make sure you use a plastic surgeon or other professional with a lot of experience. Don't just do the cheap Groupon offers.
2. Never, I repeat Never let a doctor inject botox around your mouth! I've needed "help" around my mouth for years and never did any of my physicians (I've used 3 in 15 years) recommend botox around the mouth NOR would they agree to do so if requested.
3. Some of the weird feeling you have after your first few treatments will go away.
4. Before deciding on botox, consider this: If you really like the results can you afford the investment to keep it up.
5. The first few treatments may only last 3 or 4 months, but the longer you continue treatment, the longer the results will last. I've had good results up to 8 months.
6. If you keep up with regular injections "when needed", you can stay wrinkle free!

The photo shows me with botox not only for crowsfeet, but also Dr. Zaworski did my forehead for the first time ever (usually I cover it with bangs). To do my forehead in addition to both eyes costs more of course, so I'm not sure maintaining my forehead is in my budget.

At this point/age, I would like to have blepharoplasty, but my many years of botox/dysport have allowed me to save up for a tummy tuck instead:-) Maybe in another year or two years I will do eye surgery, or maybe never! Keep Smiling Ladies!

I loved your review! I just got botox for the first time about 2.5 weeks ago and love it! I'm 42 and did my forehead and my 11s at first. At 2 weeks I went back for a touch up and got a tiny bit more in my forehead and had my crows feet done. I love my dr! He's a facial plastic surgeon! You look great!

Thank you HappyGirl! 42 is the perfect age to start. Like me, you'll be hooked but happier, and as I wrote, it is so worth it 10+ years later. Sometimes, I simply lose track of time and forget. Its like waking up and realizing the treatment is due! At the same time, I'm like wow, when they come back my crowsfeet still look the same or better as 15 years ago:-)

I'm already hooked! I've never done anything cosmetic prior to this and was scared but now I'm loving it! I told my husband to brace himself because if the botox doesn't do what I want I'll be getting a brow lift and under eye surgery. I'll be doing it eventually anyway though. He said as long as I'm happy he's happy

I've avoided the brow lift since I've worn bangs all my life any way, so my forehead has never been seen lol! I did do a face/neck lift last year, which I am thrilled with, but my under eyes are great, also due to the years of botox I think, that and I am lucky that I don't have puffiness under eyes. You may look at my brief facelift story here too.

I'm afraid newme! I'm going to transition from the MM site to the botox site and idk if this is a good idea. I haven't posted a new review yet... my botox appt is 2/4 - my 6mo PO from my MM!! What should I know? I feel like a newbie all over again...

Have you tried botox before? If not, I have a few tips from my 1st time (back in 2002) that I can share. After my very first botox treatment, it took a few days before I noticed the change (but the doctor had told me that). I had an odd feeling/sensation in the area of my crowsfeet, but that went away after a couple of weeks. I simply had to get used to it, and never felt it again. I sometimes get a little bruise, but no big deal. Last year, my PS talked me into getting the frown lines between my eyes treated. I never had before due to the additional costs, and tried to hide those with long bangs. Now I am hooked on that as well. In my case, getting botox was liking have my tummy tuck. I really really wanted it, and that desire took my fears away.

Thanks newme... Idk how to prep and am trying not to overthink the process. Just going in for some 'freebies' and hoping for some amazing results, if only for some experimental edification! lol :)

Just prep your mind that you'll have no wrinkles afterwards, and prep your budget to want to maintain that for years to come :-)

I'm wondering if you try to avoid the sun as much as possible to make your FL last. I'm debating having a lower face/neck lift but am so scared that the results won't last if I continue with my almost daily outdoor activities even if I use lots of sunscreen.

Hi Blubber! Good to hear from you. I have been off RSF for awhile. I just posted my tt scar at 9 months if you want to check it out. I will check your profile out now too. To your question about the sun. I have never avoided the sun. My facelift was only 18 months ago, so I can only say I was in the sun a lot since having it. Since the facelift scarring isn't exposed to the sun, there is no issue there. Otherwise, I am not aware of reason why the sun would cause the FL not to last (with sunscreen and reasonable exposure of course) AND I usually wear a hat anyway. Since you have posted on my botox page, I will add for everyone that I've certainly NOT had any issues combining sun exposure with botox usage. Keeping up the botox so many years, I can only say the results last longer and longer over the years, and all new wrinkling was completely halted.
