So I have FINALLY decided to take the plunge and go through with the lipo I have been desiring to have since my college days, about 15 years ago. Over these last 15 years, my fat deposits would never budge despite a very healthy lifestyle and vigorous workouts. I go to the gym about 4-5 times a week doing HIIT and cardio classes that involve a lot of plank work, pushups, lower body and body weight movements (Burpees anyone?! Lol). Nothing I ever did would reduce the size of my saddlebag area BECAUSE you CAN’T spot reduce areas on your body with fat deposits. I have always felt that my upper body never matched my lower body and I could not stop obsessing over it, EVER. That is why I have decided to just get the surgery, because it literally drives me crazy. My current stats as of this morning (day of surgery) are:
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 148.2 (as of this morning)
Waist (narrowest point): 27.75 inches
Waist (at bellybutton): 30 inches
Hips (at widest point - saddlebags): 41.75
Right thigh: 23.75
Left thigh: 23 inches
I had a total of 2.5 liters of fat removed (equates to 5.5 pounds).
I have attached pictures of me from this morning as well as some from last spring 2017. I have only seen my silhouette with my CG on and so far, all I can say is WOW,. Can’t wait to actually see it without my CG on on Thursday morning when I’m allowed to shower!

Wow. Thanks for sharing your experience! I could have been writing this myself! I am also looking into having the same exact areas treated soon. Would yoilu mind sharing what type of lipo procedure you had done (bodyjet/aqualipo, smart lipo, etc) and if they only used tumescent anesthesia or also combined it with medications to sedate you durong the procedure? Was it painless durong and after? And how has the recovery process been? I haven't been able to find any detailed testimonials of this same specific case. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I had tumescent lipo under general anesthesia. I’m not gonna lie, the recovery process is very painful. I knew it was going to be, but not to this extent and I feel I have a high pain tolerance. I’m on day 4 post op and the pain has been more tolerable the last 2 days, but wow. I took a couple of pics from when I took my first shower post op and I’ll post those soon. Let me know if you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them for you. Just a little side note... when I took my compression garment off to take my first shower, I was amazed. I thought, those bulges are gone!!!

That's great! Thanks so much for the helpful info! How long did the drainage last? Are you still pretty bruised/swollen? Was the pain tolerable with pain meds? I'm going in for my bodyjet procedure of outer thighs in 2 weeks. Thank you!

Honestly, I had no drainage whatsoever. I bought a 20 pack supply of bed pads and only used 2... 1 for my bed and 1 for my recliner and didn’t leak at all. I’m on day 20 PO and my bruising is almost gone. I suspect that by my 4-week mark it’ll all be gone. Swelling, on the other hand, I still have. Not really bad, but definitely some. I didn’t swell up as bad as I thought I would though, so I was pleasantly surprised. I used my pain meds, ibuprofen and Tylenol for the first 2 days PO and then just ibuprofen until about day 17 PO. The pain was really bad the first 2 days and then on the 3rd day, it was much better. It seemed that every 3 days my pin would drastically improve. I’m still a bit sore even now, but hopefully by my 4-week mark it’ll be mostly gone. Excited for you!! Are you nervous? Is this going to be your first experience with this type of thing?

Also... random question... what brand of bed pads did you buy?
February 28, 2019
The brand is Bearals. It is a 20 pack of 23x36 inch pads. I got it off Amazon for $19.

Great! Just found them on Amazon. Thanks a lot!
Also, have you experienced any sharp nerve pain in your lower back (flanks) or is it the same pain all over the treated areas? I have heard a few people have mild to medium tingling sensation there postop but should resolve on its own after a few days.

To be honest, the worst pain I had was on my flank/sacrum areas I had treated... I was told that when those areas are treated, the fluid has no place to go but there so it sits all above the butt. Mine was and still is swollen and tender and I’m 24 days PO. If I had just inner and outer thighs done, I think it would have been so much easier of a recovery because when you rest, you are either sitting or laying down and all the pressure is put on that area.

Ouch! Sorry to hear :( I asked my surgeon if he could stick with just outer hips and thighs but he said flanks have to be done in order to achieve better contour. Not looking forward to the pain! How long did your surgeon say it would take for the pain in that area to be gone?

Wow, no drainage! That's great! Your results look amazing!! I'm more nervous than excited at the moment though. It will be my first ecperience with this kind of surgery. I've opted for Body Jet lipo with local anesthesia in the hands of a Board Certified P. S. but I'm dreading the PO pain/swelling/bruising and drainage... although the Dr said some if his patients don't drain much after the 2nd day. I also have high pain tolerance (had my 2 kids naturally w no meds) but if its worse than that not sure if I can handle it! Lol!

Day 2 PO

I got to take my first shower the other day and here are a couple of pictures of my results from day 2 PO. Very happy with my results so far, even with the swelling. Can't tell you how much I despised my CG the first week post op... It's starting to become more tolerable now though. I will post more soon.
