About me: I am a male in my 30s, and not the type...

About me:
I am a male in my 30s, and not the type of person who is obsessed with his looks, but I like to exercise and stay fit. Although my nose did not look bad, it was far from perfect. It was a bit crooked and also slightly bent (aquiline) which is what I wanted to fix.

How I decided to undergo a cosmetic nose surgery:
I was not planning that ahead of time. It just hit me one day and I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mehta for consultation. When I visited him, he was very friendly and explained in simple terms what I can change. Dr. Mehta was very forthcoming from the very first moment. If he thinks there is nothing to fix or that undergoing a surgery is not a good idea he will tell you. I found out that Dr. Mehta specializes in hose surgeries and although very young he already has performed hundreds of them. So, I always trusted his opinion.

Consultation appointment details:
Dr. Mehta takes a few pictures from different angles and then presents them to you on his computer screen. Special software allows him to visually present how the nose can look like after the surgery. Dr. Mehta goes over all possible changes to make sure that you have a clear idea what can be done and for each case see visually how it looks, compare and choose. Of course, if you ask his opinion (did that and strongly recommend it) he will tell you. But to him what matters the most is that you always choose. This process lasts for a while and at end there are usually 2-3 different “desired noses” that you come up with. Then Dr. Mehta switches back and forth so that you can compare and finalize your choice. He also sends you them by e-mail so that you look compare them at home and decide if you are not sure.

After the surgery:
The surgery went perfectly fine. The day of the surgery, the feeling was not pleasant as a small splint was placed on my nose to protect it and to keep it stable. I experienced also bruising and minor swelling in the eye area. However, I did not have any side effects (not even the common ones). In a scale from 1 to 10 (10 is max) the pain level was about 3 (but that is subjective). The first 2 days I could not fall asleep easily which I used to my benefit (kept icing my face which helped the recovery). Very important: I took the prescribed medication before and after the surgery and also followed the instructions that Dr. Mehta gave me to the letter. As a result in 2-3 days I had pretty much recovered. 6 days after the surgery the bruising was totally gone (this varies though).

Results:
From online research, I was aware that it takes months for the nose to stabilize (which is why I waited till now to write the review). When the cast was removed one week after the surgery the nose looked swollen. This swelling gradually dissipates over 2-4 several months and thus the appearance of the nose changes gradually which is why I didn’t want to jump into conclusions although to be honest I liked what I saw on the mirror 10 days after the surgery. The numbness takes longer to resolve. Today it’s almost gone (it's just a few mm spot below the tip, between the nostrils). Generally, this may last for 1-2 years. My approach not expect instant miracles but instead be patient and look for improvements over a long period of time, After all, my nose was fully functional a week after the surgery.

About Dr. Mehta:
Dr. Mehta is very friendly, explains everything with clarity, follows up with his patients frequently and for a long period (I still schedule appointments with him).
However, what matters even more is his work (i.e., results). Dr. Metha is foremost an exceptional surgeon. I am 100% satisfied with the final result and the overall progress as time went by. Dr. Mehta is a perfectionist. To be honest, I was very pleased by the outcome even the first week after the surgery but he knew based on his long experience that my nose would look much better in the future. Of course, a human nose behaves differently than pixels on the screen. I expected that what I saw on the computer screen in my very first appointment with Dr. Mehta would not be exactly how my nose would look like. Nevertheless, I am stunned how close reality (my nose a year after the surgery) is to the virtual reality (the "ideal nose" that I had in mind). At last but not at least, Dr. Mehta makes sure that the nose after the surgery does not alter one's characteristics or look fake on one's face. In my case, nobody could tell a week after that I had a nose job.

In a nutshell:
- Dr. Mehta is very friendly, explains everything with clarity. However, what makes him stand out is his work, not his words.
- I can't speak from my own experience about other plastic surgery procedures as I've only done the rhinoplasty, but I can say for sure Dr. Mehta is an expert in cosmetic surgery of the nose.
- Undergoing the surgery is not a big deal (just 3-4 days of uncomfortable feeling). With an experienced doctor like Dr. Mehta, risks are extremely low if not zero.
