WORTH IT
I found this site prior to setting the date for my surgery. When I look at the pictures and reviews I think "How could that person not be happy with that result?". I want to share my experience so that maybe it will help other ladies with their surgery as well. I had surgery on 10/9/2013, it is now 10/12/2013 and yes I am glad I had it done. Sore and bruised as heck but I know the end result will be worth it!
I am fortunate that my insurance covered the procedure and my secondary insurance picks up the copays. On a side note I had an awful spider bite October 2012 and got MRSA, the MRSA manifested itself again a few months ago and I went through an agressive treatment to be rid of it for good. I used a nasal ointment, antimicrobial baths, and an oral antibiotic. I had to have the boils cut out, which left a large open wound that had to be packed to heal from inside to out both times. I healed quickly and with very little scarring. My upfront out of pocket had been met because of this and the doctors did not feel it was an issue as far as having another surgery.
I go for a follow up 1 week post op next Tuesday and will post new pictures and hopefully will continue to heal.

Stitches out update
Well here I am 2 weeks post op and still so happy I did this. It has been fun trying on some of my clothes to see how different they fit. It has not all been easy, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The thing that had me most concerned was basically my nipples were black, they look like all the tissue had died on the ends. As it gets better it reminds me of a smashed fingernail type bloodclot it sloughs off as time passes and heals. At 2 weeks I feel good, definitely not 100%. I have a very physical part time job and take care of the hubby and house ( Taking care of him is my full time job!), so I am going to ease back into work next week. Happy Healing to those going through it, and if you are considering it, go ahead it is worth it!

I've just scheduled my surgery and have been scared to death ever since. Seeing your recovery helps me so much! Thank you for posting!

One of the things I attribute to a great recovery is good genetics. The other thing I have heard over and over from the docs is, "You must eat well, because you heal fast". Ladies, I used to weigh almost 300 lbs, I am down to around 240 now.I am almost 51 years old. I am a very active overweight person and many are suprised when I tell them I carry 240 lbs. on a 5'6" frame. I was so afraid I would not qualify for surgery until I lost more weight. I took a chance and went for a consult anyways. The first doctor I went to was younger and to be honest I did not have a good feeling when I went to see him. They actually filled out the insurance paperwork wrong and caused me to be turned down. I called and was told they go by Body Surface Area (BSA) and I need to lose a little more weight and we would try again. I ask how much weight and the lady told me "about 4 or 5 lbs". HUH?? Hell I can vary that much from one day to the next. My point is if you are a "thick girl" don't let it hold you back from trying. I knew of Dr. Hurteau from girlfriends using him for breast enhancements and tummy tucks. I knew he had been in practice for a long time and had the experience I would be most comfortable with. I feel like when I am back to 100% I will be even more active without having to carry around those huge boobs. My back and neck already feel better. Most importantly I feel better about myself. Gingela, good luck and keep us posted. This forum has helped me and I want to pass it along in order to help others. I am glad you feel better after seeing my contribution.

I will send you a private msg with his name. I don't want to say anything that would
hurt his business, I just didn't have a good feeling about it. He may be a very competent doctor.

I did meet dr. Hurteau today and I had a good feeling but I will have to think really really hard. because his price is little bit higher than another one that I saw it makes a difference in my decision

Bridge, I understand that cost is a definate concern. The cheapest price is not always cheapest cost. I would never consider doing this an an in office procedure, it is just too invasive of a surgery. There is something to going to an experienced doctor that you can pretty much know is going to have your girls about the same size afterwards, and has a good reputation for having happy, satisfied patients. It to me is a major surgery and can not even imagine having to pay another surgeon to fix someone elses screw up. I am sure that would be considered cosmetic and you would not have any help from the insurance company. I could not be happier with my result and experience. I hope whoever you choose does a great job and you heal as well as I have.

Hey girl, you are about one week ahead of me. It's good to hear that you also had emotional ups/downs...I thought I was a little "crazy". I'm SOO HAPPY I did it, and yet I have had little waves of sadness. My mom (retired nurse) says that's normal after surgery/anesthesia, and that I just need to "chill".
You and I are similar build, so it's nice to see your results. You look great! What size were you before? And now? Just curious

Thanks! I was a 40H, other than soft sports bras I have not tried on anything else. I would guess a full C, or D cup, probably atill 40 band because of all the comfort food I have been eating
