I'm only 27 and have always thought it was...
I'm only 27 and have always thought it was ridiculous when girls so young got botox. I think when you do too much too young it only makes you look older. And it just scared the heck out of me too.
I had to go see a plastic surgeon for another procedure (medically necessary and I only saw someone in plastics for the attention to scarring), and I asked him about my heavy eyelids. Everyone on one side of my family has had to have an upper eyelid lift in their 50's due to so much excess skin that begins to affect their vision.
His suggestion was to do 20 units of Botox to lift everything. He said he would spread them out over my face for a more subtle look. He did two small injections on an upper forehead line (the only really visible line/wrinkle on my face) and made sure to stay between my pupils even that high up. He said otherwise forehead botox would only make my brows and eyelids droop even lower. He also did just a touch on my 11's and then one injection on each side for my crows feet. These two injections were outside and below my eye.
Not gonna lie. I was terrified because I've read so many horror stories and have heard them from friends, but I couldn't be more pleased with the results. My eyes have been lifted tremendously (look at the before and after pics) and my forehead crease has disappeared. The injections also completed got rid of my headaches and migraines I constantly battle.
The only thing I don't like is not being able to express myself as completely as I used to be able to. I feel and emotion and go to express it, but it doesn't do so to the extent that it used to. So I sometimes feel as if people think I'm indifferent to things or am upset just because my face doesn't move quite as much as it used to. I've asked family and friends about this, but they say they haven't noticed any difference, which is good. I guess it's just me being over analytical.
I've gotten a slew of compliments on my "well rested appearance and amazing skin texture" and have also had people think I lost weight :)
For me, botox was definitely worth it, but it's so important to do your research. Really think it through....ask friends who've had it, research online and have a good convo with your doc beforehand. My doctor and I talked for 30 minutes before he ever did the injections....about how I used certain muscles, the look I wanted (or didn't want) and how much it would cost to maintain the botox. He was very sensitive about me understanding how much it would cost in the long run and that he didn't want to start a procedure I couldn't keep up financially.
My doctor also said he needed that time to really look at my face as I talked to see how I used different muscles in order to give me the best result. There isn't a one size fits all approach with Botox and that's why it's so important to see someone who will really take the time to make sure that they are treating you and your face as it needs to be treated based on your individual traits/needs/etc.

Provider Review
Dr. Skowronski
I had a friend who has received a breast augmentation from Dr. Pittman at Athens Plastic Surgery. I needed to have a few non-cancerous tumors removed and sought out Dr. Skowronski (they call him Dr. Ski) for the procedure. That is when I inquired about my heavy eyelids and botox was suggested.
