My experience with Dr. Agudelo was literally everything AND MORE that I could have asked for in a surgeon and for my rhinoplasty.
Since I am Asian, I wanted someone who was familiar with ethnic rhinoplasties which Dr. Agudelo absolutely is. To begin with, in the pre-consult, Dr. Agudelo answered literally ALL of the million questions I had about the surgery, what to expect, and he broke down literally step-by-step what he would do for my particular rhinoplasty. He made sure I knew about the procedure, even down to the tiniest details, and took my input and concerns very seriously. He never pushed anything on me like other surgeons may do. He listened to exactly what I wanted and it's what I indeed got at the end! He does the simulation right then and there in the consult and makes adjustments according to your input. Oh also, he speaks impeccable English, so if that's a concern for anyone, that won't be an issue whatsoever.
Getting to Cali was pretty smooth. I went straight to our second consult when I landed. Dr. Agudelo once again reviewed the simulation and explained in even greater detail what to expect and how he would perform the surgery after seeing my nose in person and he even asked for my input and provided me with options! It was such a personable and pleasant experience.
The surgery went so smoothly. The medical team made me feel right at home and were cracking jokes with me which eased my fear and worry. Right after the surgery, Dr. Agudelo explained to me what to expect early on in the healing process and just made me feel so comforted and good.
Now comes the post-op stuff....... literally this was the EASIEST AND SMOOTHEST and almost pain-free healing process I never expected!!!!! I literally had zero bruising despite him reducing the size of some of the bone. I obviously had swelling but it wasn't anything out of this world (as you can see in the pictures). Dr. Agudelo was realistic and humble about the results and did express to me that I was an exception in this case and only about 10% of patients experience minimal swelling and no bruising like this, but I'm still so pleased at the immediate results! I had the hard, white cast on for a week, then Dr. Agudelo kept tape on the nose for a week. The only pain I experienced was in my rib since I used rib cartilage to add the projection in my nose. This pain only lasts for about 4-7 days really and is totally manageable (apart from when I coughed or sneezed ugh). But it's quick— I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op now and I can already sleep on my side where the cartilage was taken out.
In my post-op appointments, Dr. Agudelo was so, so kind and attentive. I am a very curious person and just ask a million questions about literally everything and he was so patient and seemed to not mind answering all of my questions (haha, sorry, Dr. Victor!!). He explained to me what to expect yet again as I heal further. Everything he told me to expect and the timeline was exactly how it happened. He's a true expert!
The most amazing thing really was (and I really mean this)— He listened to a T what I wanted out of this rhinoplasty and literally. made. it. happen!!!!! I asked for natural results, but also a pretty drastic change in projection and minimization of the width. He granted that and more! Because of this, I would advise you to make sure you have a clear idea of what you want going into surgery because I am telling you he will make it happen! Obviously there might be exceptions to this, but Dr. Agudelo will express certain limitations a nose may have and will discuss realistically what results you can expect.
I could not be happier with the results or with having made the decision to do my rhinoplasty with Dr. Agudelo. Look no further, this is the surgeon for you!
