Some pics behind the ears

Thanks to all for your support. We're back in Oz now & have caught up on some much needed sleep. My sister is staying with us so my partner wore a beanie to disguise the swelling behind his ears & I touched up his scars in front of his ears with concealer on our way home. (It's cold here & coming from the hot climate over there, I thought wearing a beanie wouldn't seem too odd). We did feel like my sister was giving us strange looks but didn't know whether we were just feeling guilty & were imagining it! Then the oldest grandson called around who is very switched on. He couldn't stop staring at us & remarked how different we both looked & how our faces looked fatter. I told him we've put on weight during our holiday. Some more of the family are catching up with us over the next couple of days so I'm feeling a bit nervous about that. I've booked in later today for some Botox for the frown lines & crows feet & wondering whether I should cancel & reschedule later as it will probably make the results even more noticeable. Here are some pics of behind our ears. My right ear is healing up nicely. It is still a little swollen with a bump but my left ear is more swollen with more bumps & still bunched. My hair is really in need of a colour so not sure what I will say to my hairdresser as I didn't really want to tell her. I will try & post some more pics later of the front of the ears.

A few bumps & other things

Day 26
My apologies for not updating sooner but we've been rising early & sometimes getting in late & other times we've had poor internet service.
We've had a wonderful holiday but it's coming to an end & we'll be flying back to Australia tomorrow. I've read so many other reviews over the last year and I have to say that I really anticipated the healing process would be a lot quicker for both of us. I'm pleased that I'm not returning to work until next week (which will be day 35) as I feel that some things would have been obvious had I returned sooner. The scars in front of my ears have flattened but the red line is still very obvious, especially the right ear. My partner said my tragus looks really white like a bit of plasticine has been stuck on it. I'm not able to see that area too well but I think it looks that way because my skin is very fair compared to the red line. There is swelling behind my ears as well as some bumps & bunching, more so on the left side. I'm happy that I can cover those areas with my hair but am feeling impatient & hoping this will resolve really soon. My left cheek feels hard & looks swollen but it probably wouldn't be noticeable to someone who doesn't know me. My cheeks also feel quite tender & therefore I've avoided applying any makeup because it's hurts a little to remove the makeup while it feels tender. I developed a darkish bruise under my left cheekbone and this has only just faded. The right hand side of my jaw is still slightly tender to touch & when I apply moisturiser to that area of my face, I need to use a lighter touch. The scar under my chin still feels raised & tender. I mentioned on my previous post that there was some crinkling on the right side of my neck & there doesn't seem to be any improvement still at this stage. I'm hoping this will resolve but I plan to email Dr. Harley along with some photos to find out his thoughts on this.
My partner still has a lot of swelling behind his ears, particularly the left ear. Like mine, his left ear is more bunched. Both scars in front of his ears are still quite noticeable & on his right ear, the scar looks slightly raised. Although he has grown some sideburns, they do not cover the scars in front of his ears & he is unable to hide the swelling & bunching behind his ears due to his lack of hair. He still has dark bruising on both cheeks which seems to have lasted for weeks but is gradually fading. I feel so bad for him that it still looks obvious because he was really only interested in getting the upper bleph but I encouraged him to also go with the lift. He's worried about returning home that someone will notice it and start putting two & two together. He's a real macho man & would hate it if anyone found out he had any work done.
Now for the good news. I love looking at my reflection & I now love to get my photo taken. I'm so happy with my jawline!!! My jowls are no longer there!! I'm also happy with the result of my upper bleph. The hooding has gone and I look very refreshed!! I previously suffered from dry eyes so I've been particularly careful to regularly massage my lids & I sometimes apply heated pads to my eyes as recommended by another lady here on RS. Occasionally I've needed to use eye drops but so far I haven't experienced anything worse than the dry eyes that I usually suffer from.
As mentioned my partner has grown facial hair in an attempt to disguise the bruising & scarring but it is also hiding the true results so I'm looking forward to seeing him clean shaven. He previously had quite a bit of hooding over the eyes & that is improved and I hope it continues to do so. The scars from the upper bleph are healing nicely for both of us.
I hope my update hasn't scared anyone but I just wanted to post an honest review because not everyone heals at the same rate and like us it may take a little longer. I will try and post some pics soon.

7 days

So today has been 1 week. I was hoping today might be a turn around but I'm still feeling a lot of pain in the right side of my jaw & pain radiating to my ear. It is rare for me to take any pain killers but I do need to constantly take Tylenol to relieve this pain. My cheeks are still quite swollen, & the swelling is more noticeable on the left side. It kind of makes my face look a little distorted but my hair covers it. My partner has no pain whatsoever but he does have a lot of dark bruising around his jawline & neck. It doesn't look too bad around the jawline as it blends into his beard line & it looks like a 5 o'clock shadow. The bruising around his neck looks like someone has tried to choke him but he's been able to cover it up with a collared shirt!! He is unable to cover up the scars along his sideburns due to lack of hair. On the upside, I'm grateful that I have hair & that my bruising is minimal. I know every day, there will be a slight improvement & in a weeks time, this pain will hopefully all be a distant memory. Happy 4th July to all American Real Selfers!! Waiting for the Tylenol to kick in & throwing on some sunnies to check out some of the festivities today. Look forward to seeing some fireworks later in Asheville.

The initial consultation with Dr. Harley was over the phone. I met with Dr. Harley the day before surgery. I had a neck lift, lower face lift & upper bleph. Dr. Harley is very friendly & ensures he puts you at ease. It's only 5 days post op but so far I'm very happy with the results. I will continue to post as I heal to advise of the final outcome. Thanks
