2 Week Update

2 Week Update

Hello!
Just wanted to check in and give an update on my progress at the 2 week mark. I'm healing well and the swelling is going down. I have just a bit of light bruising on the upper cheeks and in front of my ears. My swelling moves around. I'm more swollen on my left side and have been from the start. I have the numbness feeling on the sides of my face from the top part of my incisions down towards the jaw. It moves around. Yesterday it was down but today seems back up. I'm really watching my salt intake, keeping it very low. I have some lumps and bumps that are visible in my pictures when my face is at rest or tipped back. My left side one is more prominent but that side is more swollen. I'm not going to worry about any of this until more time passes. I've still got a lot of healing to go. My face still feels/looks wider at the top but it has gone down a lot. I can feel all of the tightness inside when I laugh etc. which is a good thing to me! I had a lump under my neck that might be swelling or a lymph node. My understanding is that it's fairly common and usually takes care of itself. My mouth is relaxing and I look more like me, plus I can take bigger bites when eating.
I didn't realize that my camera put a filter on my BEFORE selfie shots. I thought my skin looked better than normal in those earlier shots and didn't know why. All photos I have posted "post-op" have had no filters and I have no face makeup on. I tried to take them either outside or with a flash to give the most realistic views. I know you all want to see the real deal!

Sleeping is still a challenge because I'm not a back sleeper. My ears were really sore when lying down and the neck pillow seemed to aggravate it. It's better now. Some nights I take a Tylenol PM but haven't needed anything else. Dr. Harley's Post-Op instructions advise to sleep elevated and not bend over for the first 2 weeks. I'm still following those instructions for as long as I can figuring in can only help the healing process. I'm also still eating the pineapple and blueberries for swelling and healing.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my husband and I went to N Myrtle Beach after I got my stitches out for the rest of the week. I stayed out of the sun and rested. I feel like that really helped in the healing process. I planned on not doing much for these first two weeks and I've accomplished that.
I haven't had to contact Dr. Harley with any questions so far. Most anything I've experienced has been covered/explained on his FAQ sheet I got when my stitches came out.
I hope everyone is healing well and happy with their progress. For those coming up next, don't worry it will be fine.

Swelling moving around

My swelling seems to have moved further down my left cheek. It's kind of all the way down to my chin. Even under my lower lip feels kind of numb and weird like I went to the dentist. Right side is much less. Strange process. I'm sleeping all propped up with my pillow fort, but the bed where I'm staying is not that comfortable. Dr Harley said when sleeping on your back with a neck pillow, most people still turn their head one way or the other in the night and swell that side more.
I plan to ask hubby to help me take pics later. I just can't seem to get ones behind ears. I do have energy and no blues. I can see the improvement in my jaw and neck!! I laughed really hard at something this morning and I could feel all the internal tightness.
