47 Years Old Decided to Have Mini Tummy Tuck - Asheville, NC

First of all, I didn't really need to have this. I'm 5'10 and weigh 130. I have a 17 year old son. Yes, when I sat down I had a roll. I have enjoyed eating baked goods, fried chicken, and such my whole life. My beau was Not on board with me having this.
I decided to have a mini tummy tuck while I was having breast reconstruction. Kind of a treat for getting through breast cancer and a birthday present to myself. Yes, it is painful. My advice to anyone having this done is to get a walking cane because you have to walk bent over for three weeks. Also, you have need to sleep kind of sitting up with pillows under your knees. Even though mine was a mini, my incision scar is from hip to hip and my navel was moved. I will post before and after photos soon. I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. Looking forward to walk normal and sleeping normal.

The recovery is VERY long....but hopefully you will be happy with your results, once some time has passed! Just give yourself lots of time...it really does change a lot from month to month! Good luck!

Awfull

Sounds like you had a full tummy tuck because you had belly butto done. I just had a miniTT Oct. 12 and my Dr didn't touch my belly button and did not walk bent over, what hurt the most was the Lipo I had done . Sorry your having such a hard time.

He said he needed to relocate it because it would look weird if he didn't. I think it looks weird now. If I could turn back time......

That's good to hear. I'm doing a mini with lipo on Dec 23rd. This makes me feel better after reading all these posts. Thank you!

You are welcome. Don't forget to get a walking cane. It will come in handy,
Best of luck!

I am 8 weeks post op advanced tt and lipo.....my belly is still so swollen...its gone down some...I live in a compression garmet...I don't mind its comforting, BUT...this swelling.
December 2, 2015
Recovery is a long process. Hopefully your swelling goes away soon. My scar still hurts and I imagine it will for a long time. It doesn't help that it's right where jeans and pants go.
Best wishes!

Hi Babes,
Im new to all this, I was not told the side effects of lipo! It nearly killed me! I wear compression 24-7...but now Im seeing where a ton of people are saying don't wear the garmet?
December 2, 2015
Hello. You should ask your doctor about how long to wear it. I wore mine until a little after two months. It makes you wonder how bad it is with all these Hollywood whack jobs wearing them.

The redness is from an allergic reaction I had from the adhesive glue. Too early to know if I am happy with the results. I'm having a hard time mentally dealing with the length of recovery. I have a Dr appt tomorrow and hope to get this tape off.

They looked like they did a full with how long your scar is. I know with a revision, mine will be longer also but with a vertical scar added with the old belly button I think. You said you don't have enough skin? Mine looks the same as it did at 8 weeks I think. It's been 10 weeks now. I do have a little more noticeable loose skin. Think you'll have more also. I wish you the best of luck!

My belly button looks completely different. I'm not sure I like it. I am horrified to show my boyfriend. It makes me feel better that I'm not the only mini tt that got sliced from hip to hip. I hope you are happy and are healing well.

I know the glue can have a bad effect on a lot of people!!! You actually look really great under the tape.
It gets so much better!!! I promise!!! Did your Dr talk with you about any scar treatments????

Ask your Dr to give a an RX for the itchy redness....I used neosporian around the area. It helped a lot!!!
August 22, 2015
It's important to be patient. I had asked him about silicone adhesive strips, like scar away. He said he likes those, so I ordered some from Amazon. Neosporian sounds like a great idea. Thank you!

I would use a heating pad on my back, when it would hurt and lie down in bed. It helped. If u had a mini, why did they touch your bb?
August 24, 2015
The doctor said it would have made it look weird from puling the skin down if he didn't. I do not want my boyfriend to see it now. (we don't live together, thankfully) I'm being patient and realize this probably isn't the final look.

You look great! Give your bb time. If you decide you don't like it you can get a bb revision. I understand it's really quick and in office. Good luck to you! I'm getting mine in Oct. My ps said he's not moving the bb. I'm hoping it looks good. I guess he's excising some lower ab skin but won't pull my bb too much down.
September 15, 2015
Thank you! My bb has gotten better over the last few weeks. My doctor said he could remove the skin where it puffs up at each end. It's still early as this is a long recovery.
I wish you the best! Don't forget a walking cane.

I am 4 weeks post op and STILL itch! ugh this is intense! I was able to deal with incisional discomfort but the back pain was the worse for me
September 15, 2015
Having a cane definitely helped for me walking around. Heating pads are great.

ha. I still itch sometimes, and it's been 9 months. I'm not sure what that means, maybe things are still "wiring" back together in there?? I also still have numbness....I'm sure everyone heals differently..but my experience has been slow. (I also still have some swelling).
September 16, 2015
It seems the swelling takes a long time to go away.
Thanks for your comment.
