Poor donor site extraction led to a visible contrasted "box" on the back of my head. One bald spot gone, another, massive bald rectangle placed on the back of my head. I like to keep my hair on the short side, but that option is gone now as I will have to try to grow it out in order to cover up this disaster.
This was after my 2nd procedure, btw. The first covered one part of my head, and it turned out great! The second fixed the remaining problems, but as I mentioned, resulted in this mess.
Picture is over 2 months post op, taken in low light. Outside the box shape is even more intense.

To asnwer you question, this happened to a friend of mine, he resolved it by tatooing the empty spots.
