Wish I Had Done It Sooner!

I researched arm lift surgery or brachioplasty for over 3 years although my journey of unhappiness began another 5 years prior.
By the time October 25 came around I had met 4 prospective surgeons and considered Turkey and Lithuania. All costing pounds and all unsatisfactory for different reasons.
I have not lost a lot of weight, I do not have large arms however I do have aged, crepey and wrinkly skin. I was offered unnecessary procedures, advised only a general anaesthetic would do or told it wasn’t worth my while.
I wanted my surgery performed under local anaesthetic, I wanted my incision to go below the elbow and I wanted to remain in the UK.
I was recommended to Professor Ajay Mahajan by a fellow sufferer of premature aged and sagging upper arm’s through a facebook group. This lady was very happy with the result that he had achieved for her.
My first meeting with the Prof was over zoom and he listened attentively to the issues I was complaining of. He explained how the surgery would be performed, the after care I would expect to receive and the possible complications that may occur. I found it very easy to describe to the Prof how my arms left me feeling as opposed to prior consultations where I left feeling deflated or embarrassed.
It was explained that I would receive further information and details over the next few days, I was already wanting to book the surgery as soon as possible.
I had the opportunity to book my surgery for 9th January. During Christmas and New Year I had several telephone conversations with the lovely Surgical Nurse Jay who carried out all of the pre op procedures and arranged the medication. Nurse Jay also advised the best clothes to wear to feel comfortable during the surgery.
On arrival at Evolve Clinic I was greeted by welcoming and professional staff. I met with Nurse Jay who went through the timetable for the morning and prepped me for surgery. Prof Mahajan then reintroduced himself and began his prep. I was taken into the theatre and met with Nurse Grace who was also assisting with the surgery. Once I was positioned on the bed and comfortable, the local anaesthetic was inserted which was slightly prickly but not painful. During this, Jay and Grace spoke to me about what kind of music I liked to listen to and put on a playlist for me to enjoy. As the incisions were made, the Prof continually asked if I was comfortable ensuring enough anaesthetic had been inserted. Grace and Jay chatted away with me while professionally carrying out their duties putting me at complete ease. Both arms were completed within 2 hours. I was shown myself in the mirror and cannot underestimate how utterly in disbelief I felt at what reflected back at me. My arms were smooth, taut, and young in appearance! I may have uttered, it’s like magic!
Following the surgery the post op procedures were carried out by Nurse Jay and Nurse Grace, I was made a cup of tea and offered something to eat. Prof Mahajan reminded me of the importance of continuous movement and post op care at home. I was picked up by my family just over 3 hours after being dropped off.
The following morning I had a scheduled call from Nurse Jay checking in on me. Then the following two weeks I had zoom calls assisting me with the removal of bandages and tapes. The clinic frequently checked in on me until my first review appointment with Prof Mahajan in February.
My arms are now 20 years younger, my scars are extremely thin and I have full movement throughout. I am extremely happy with my result and the whole experience, dare I say it was enjoyable and pleasant.
