Run.. Don’t Go to Him He Lies and Sales You and then Dumps You!

Whatever you do don’t go to Dr. Basu in Houston for surgery if you are plus sized. Had a brachioplasty done and He lied to me during my consult and pretty much guaranteed a result that I did not get. He is not willing to revise my surgery without another fee and refuses to give a partial refund. His colleague Dr. Sarcia agreed that more should have been taken off and when I told him this he got extremely upset. No I’m not naive to possible complications that could happen during surgery, but his sales pitch did not match his delivery. Don’t give me an expectation of a 90% reduction and then just give me 40% and when that expectation is not met, you back down and throw every excuse in the book at me talking about BMI etc, which he knew before surgery. I was a plus size case but as a woman who lost 70 pounds with tons more weight to lose I was looking for a confidence booster. Been working the COVID icu’s and wanted to treat myself and wear my sleeveless shirts. Well after 12k later my arms have about 40% reduction in my left arm and about 60% in my right arm. Not to mention my left arm is significantly bigger than my right. And he stitched my arms so tight I have ridges, it just seem like he rushed on me. I should have walked out when he was 3 hours behind from my original surgery time but of course I would have not gotten my money back. Still can’t wear sleeveless shirts and feel comfortable. His good reviews are bogus and If you are not 130 pounds or less I would not recommend him he seems to be good at certain body types. This is strictly my opinion but he is not a very good surgeon if you have a lot to remove off your arms. After expressing my discontent and posting a negative but truthful review on IG he discharged me from his practice, I guess his ego took a hit. Very unprofessional and now I’m trying to find a surgeon to do a revision. I’m so sad and upset about my outcome! Had to vent and share my story! I paid him 12k which was double what other surgeons quoted but I trusted him and his sales pitch. This would not even be an issue if he was upfront and honest in my consultation. Had he said the I would only see a 60% reduction then my expectation would have been as such. Because I showed discontent about a surgery I paid 12k for he said I was badgering his office staff, demanding a refund when a refund or possible revision was offered when I spoke to him on the phone and his colleague . He passed me on to his office admin Zach who sent me a body shaming email and pretty much denied everything that I discussed with Dr. Basu. He even told me in my discharge from practice letter that if I had complications in the future I would have to find another board certified plastic surgeon and actually had the nerve to lie in a discharge letter that was addressed to me. I do not recommend him, only for smaller frame individuals. If you go to him make sure he puts your expectations in writing. My consultation was over a zoom call, when I went in for my pre op appt I saw his nurse..still no Dr. Basu except an hour before surgery, his big claim was he took 3lb off my arms total when 3 pounds could have easily come each arm..so so unprofessional. Now I am walking around 12k less which I worked hard for, big arms, ridges in my arms, and one arm bigger than the other , real self is saying file is too big to post pics but if you would like to see them I will be happy to send them to you. blue back ground is before and second picture is my after.
