ORIGINAL POST

Extended Brachioplasty

WORTH IT$11,000
My arms have always been my least favorite part of my body... not for long!!! Surgery in 13 days! I've been waiting for this one! This is my third procedure in my quest for the body I've always wished for. First I had an Abdominoplasty in Jan 2017, and then large volume liposuction around my back in July 2019. Surgery is Nov 15th 2019!

Surgery Day!

I was surprisingly calm going in. Being the 3rd surgery you get more comfortable. After I got marked I was concerned about what the results would be. The way surgeons mark you in plastics is confusing. However I could not have been happier when I saw my arms.
I had read a lot of reviews on this surgery and was really nervous about what the pain level was going to be and the recovery. In all of the surgeries that I’ve had this one is the least painful.
My surgeon ended up taking 15 pounds off each arm it’s incredibly drastic and I love it ????!
So here’s how I’m feeling. Amazing! I’m thankful for my husband, you definitely need someone to be with you. Although I’m able to move my arms way more than I thought I cant and am not willing bend them so pulling pants down and up are impossible by myself. It’s funny to watch me walk sideways through hall. I’m sore to touch, but the pain killers have taken away any actually pain. My arms are super weak from keeping them elevated, and other than that I’m great . The hardest part of this will be waiting to fully heal.

Following your journey, looking forward to seeing your results. My arms are a lot like yours, but worse actually. I had talked to this Dr 7 years ago when I was losing weight but not yet ready for surgery. If course my weight has gone up and down since then, life ya know. At that time he was offering two surgeries for the price of one! Too bad I wasn't ready then. Good luck and hope you have an easy recovery.

I'm so happy I did this and recovery is much easier than I thought it would be. Obviously it's no walk in the park, however so worth it. Make sure you pick a surgeon that's willing to be aggressive, that you can clearly set expectations with and is willing to get you there

15 lbs off each arm?? That’s insane! Can’t wait to see more pics and read more updates!!

Surely that must be a typo? I'd think 1.5 lbs is more accurate.

"According to Shirley Kindrick, the human arm is approximately 6.5 percent of a person's total body weight. For instance, the average weight of a male is 194.7 pounds, meaning the average weight of a male arm is 12.6555 pounds.

As of June 14, 2014, Statistic Brain states the average weight of a female is 164.7 pounds. This means the average weight of a female arm is 10.7 pounds."

So I am afraid I do not believe they took off any 15 lbs off of each arm, it's not possible.

There is nothing average about me, and every persons body is different. My arms stored A majority of my size. No typo, 15lbs 7inches off each arm. It's life changing. You can keep your opinions to your self. Thanks

I am sorry but you are incorrect! After my 3 month weight loss surgery post-op visit. I got an extensive body scan. I forgot what the machine is called but it scans your entire body and in 24 hours my report was emailed me and this thing broke down every inch of my body from head to toe. For example how much I should weight, how much of my body is extra fat, the measurement and weight as well as circumference of each body part. You are quoting weights for the average size man or woman. Not every man or woman is what society would consider to be average size. Well I was far from average size. At my highest weight of 358piunds my arms were enormous. Since the weight loss I have enough tissue, fat, and skin that hangs down that could easily weigh 10+ pounds on each arm. I do not think this lively women's surgeon needed to be dishonest with his patient. The work speaks for itself! As a healthcare professional I must also point out every person's body is different, every surgery is different , every patient's experience is different. Please keep that in mind when commenting on RealSelf!

So sorry, no offense was intended, I sincerely thought it was a typo. My arms seem to be bigger than yours are, so I will find out after my own surgery how much gets removed from mine. Maybe I too will be surprised at how much is removed from my own. Best of luck on your healing.

That’s is wonderful that you are pleased with your results. It takes a lot to go through this. I need it too and just looking for a good doctor in my area. And all bodies are different too. I had a friend who was of normal weight and had an abnormal amount of fat in her arms...genetics I suppose. Her arms were not proportioned to her. Hence the reason why we do surgeries to have the bodies we want! You look great!

Make sure when you interview surgeons that you look at LOTS of photos of their work. And make sure you look at photos of the same are you are having done. Also when reading reviews on surgeons if they have a bad review consider whether their issue is because of them and not the surgeon. If you read my post on Dec 7th you will se my comments on this. People love to blame surgeons for complications that so often are the patients fault or they have unrealistic expectations. Always show them what pics of what you think you are getting and talk though it. Good luck! It's amazing!

Drains gone

KPS84
Putting drains in was not originally apart of the plan, but They took off so much more than expected I ended up with them. So today is day three and the drains have been taken out.
I’ll go back for my postop appointment tomorrow however the drains were right at my armpit and we’re hurting me so I went in today to have them removed. The cool thing is she measured my arms it’s shocking how small they are. Pre-surgery my arms measured 22 inches in circumference today even though there still swollen they measured at just over 15! That’s 7inches & 15lbs off each arm. I can’t wait to wear real clothes and see!!
I’m exhausted and sore, and restless (I’m not good at sitting still). Tomorrow I hope to have my in surgery photos!!!
In today’s pics you can see some swelling and bulging near the armpit. That is a result of the ace bandages not staying up. When you compress the swelling has to go somewhere, with the drains and the bandages that part wasn’t getting covered. So also switched to the compression sleeves today. I’m hoping that corrects it and the doctor says it will.

Was there not too long ago, hang in there, it’s an up and down ride but definitely worth it. Isn’t getting out of bed fun?

Lol definitely using a recliner. Never knew my arm surgery would result in ab work outs and SO many squats
November 19, 2019
Good Luck those are going to be Superwoman arms in no time!!..your arms look great. I am researching having this surgery done. Thanks for the updates. Please keep us posted on all the good results. Also, I'm praying your ignoring all the negative and not so nice things people are posting on here. It's your journey!
November 19, 2019
I asked Real Self to take them down. I post here because it makes me happy, because not many woman my size do and I want people to see a real review with raw emotions and ongoing results. People will always hate, I'm not worried about them though. My results are what they are, my surgeon is fantastic, and I am happy.

because of various issues with mine (first an allergic reaction to the tape or glue, and later my body spitting sutures), there were large blocks of time when I couldn't wear compression at all. The swelling will still go down - it just takes longer without compression. So your doctor's right - everything will work out fine one way or the other!
December 7, 2019
Thanks! I'm finally able to wear compression again about 50% if the time. I'm so ready to be past the infection healing.
