Arm lift countdown! I'm doing an extended brachioplasty all the way to my wrist

ORIGINAL POST

Arm Lift Countdown!!!

WORTH IT$11,500
Scheduled for February 11th, 2021. I have gotten all my blood work done. I had my EKG done this morning and I PAID!! Check, check, check! This is my 3rd of 3 BODY surgeries! I've had a lower body lift in April of 2019. A bra line lift & lip-lift in December of 2019. Now, for my last body surgery I'm doing an extended brachioplasty. All the way to my wrist. (Insert wide eyed emoji here).I have loose skin. It's hereditary. Since my hysterectomy my skin has just melted like candle wax. I literally have loose skin on my forearms. He is going under my arm to lipo and get all the smooshy fat under my arm. I think the surgery for the skin is called J-plasty. I'm not sure. I'm a little nervous but mostly excited. Since I've had several surgeries in the last couple of years I know I will get better. But, anesthesia and pain and swelling and all the healing that occurs is hard. That's what I'm mostly nervous about. Soooo, I'm just 14 days out. I'm going to post pictures but I really want to wait until I have the afters since I just hate my arm skin. YUCK.

I will post my afters as soon as my surgery happens. I have reviewed my other surgeries in detail. I love this site for real pictures of real people. I think it such a huge help when we are deciding on plastic surgery.

Gosh, thanks Randi!!! You know I HATED posting these before pictures. But, I will be happy to have them as comparison pictures when my surgery is over AND I am healed! It's a 6 hour surgery!!! The longest I one yet. I'm doing a J under the arm then all the way down to my wrist!!! Eeek!!! Thank you for always being such a WONDERFUL cheerleader!! My RS friend! Plastic surgery is not a topic for all people. Lots have judgement and disdain. But, not here!! We can all freely talk about our surgeries and the healing and how hard it is AND get support. Not too many people have compassion for elective surgeries. I am 1 week and 1 day away!!! XOXO

Ohhh Leigh.. you just know we are RealSelf sisters. We are discerning women with love and support for each other. There is not one friend (local) that I can openly discuss my fears or jubilation of plastic surgery with, except for this platform. We all glean information from each other and welcome their opinions. I adore you Leigh. Good luck babe.

Six hour surgery?? Dang that's a longggg surgery!! I am here cheering you on!! I know you will be donning those cute sleeveless tops before you know it. The surgery sounds kind of interesting. You said it's a J shape and does down to your wrist. Hmmmm, I'm really excited to see the healing process. It's not too often that you see such a surgery. Wishing you an easy surgery and recovery.

Sorry just seeing this. - I wrote a review on arm. Hate to say it was my most painful. How is today going.

Girl, YES!!!! This is by far MY WORST surgery yet!! I don't know why. I keep asking my husband if it seems like it to him. I only took a week off from work thinking that would be enough. But, omg!!!! I have not been outta this bed for 1 SOLID WEEK. That kinda scares me. Did you feel like your arms hung funny? I feel like I have a tennis ball under each arm pit. It's the worst. I don't know how some on here were up and out and about in a few days. Sheez. This is stinky and painful.
February 19, 2021
I would have to reread my review lol. I do remember it was more painful than any others. I think it is because no matter how much oh ty not to use arms you must. And bend at elbow. I was cut 4 inches below the elbow under armpit and about 4 inches past arm pit. The ones who recovered quickly probably did a much shorter cut.

Thank you for the well wishes. Everyone's experiences are different. The results are the lasting reality. The discomfort is only temporary. I purchased a garment (extra) from Amazon. The garment they sent me home with is a 3/4 length clasp up the front. I cannot remember the brand. I like the one I purchased better. I will post a picture on my review.

Day 3

This surgery has been the worst, pain wise, for me. Not being able to use my arms is the worst. So, I haven’t posted or taken any pictures yet. (insert sad face). I’ve got some pictures from before the surgery. I’m going to try and shower today. Maybe. I need too. But, my poor husband has to take care of his aging parents who are quickly becoming like children. These are the moments when I ask myself WHY???? . This WILL PASS and I WILL be okay. It just takes time and patience.

I had an overnight stay in the hospital....3 procedures so it was at my request....I couldn't move my arms and with covid I was in there alone....I should have come home.....right after surgery my chin strap slid across my eyes and blinded me....i couldn't see to find my call button...turns out it was high on my chest so I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway....I was able to grab my phone and call my daughter who raised all kind of hell....other than starving the rest of the hospital stay was better....can't wait for u to see your results....so far I am decently pleased.....the scars are gonna take a while....not gonna get weird about them for a year...I knew what I was signing up for

To hear you say that the pain level is off the charts, means that it must be excruciating!! You have run the gamut of every surgery and came out of it smelling like a rose. :-) You poor baby!! I feel your pain. And, being immobile is just horrible. Having to rely on the hubby is hard for you being an independent lady!!! It will all be worth it in the long run. Hang in there my friend. Take your shower, and think positive. Love ya

After Shower Day 3

User Avatar

So, I was able to take a shower and get some pictures. Of course I’m Swollen and cannot see much change yet. But, I think I will especially under my arm area. That’s what hurt the most right now. There is a weird scrunching of tape in under my arms. I go see the doctor tomorrow and will ask him what that is.

Your arm looks amazing. No more skin flailing around. I see muscle definition in your biceps peeking out. You look very toned!!!! Good luck tomorrow at the doc's office. Are you taking any pain pills??

Really???? Can you see that from these pictures???? Yippee!! I go back today for my first post op appointment!! I hope he can tell me why I have so much pain under my arm. And why my boobies look deformed on the sides. I will post what I learn! Thanks for reaching out! Having the real self community sure does help!

I agree with jjjillied. You can really visualize the end results already. Like I said, I can see muscle tone peeking out on your biceps. Now that there's no extra skin, there's room for muscles to pop out.

So sweet of you to say. I did have some muscle in there. I'm excited to get back to working out. But, that won't be for awhile. This surgery has kicked my butt! Im not sure why I'm having such a hard time. But, this too shall pass. Lots of pain and discomfort. I'm taking the pain pills but they make me loopy and I don't like it. Just trying to pull through at the moment.Big love for being such a great cheerleader.

Oh Ms. Leigh! No working out for you girlfriend for at least two months. You don't want to compromise that beautiful result!! The pain shall pass.. focus on the future!!! If you believe in yourself all of this is possible. You are a role model here on RS!!! You LEAD by example. I love you and everything you stand for!!! I feel blessed to have a long distance friendship with you.

You guys are so cute.....plastic recovery is def no fun and games...don't be afraid to stay ahead of the pain with medication....the only pain I have is the zingers where my arm bends but they are worse than the boob zingers...I told my husband they feel like lightening storms in my arms....I get through them by hoping it's a sign of nerve ends healing...one of my RS friends did arms, tummy tuck and breast lift at the same time....ughhhh I can't even imagine

Girl, you are so right --it's not fun and games during our recovery!! Heck I'm feeling foolish right now. You know the part where you think, "I'm so stupid???" I don't want anyone to know ( like friends or family) because I don't want to be judged. That is why I love you guys so much!!! We can share with each other AND receive compassion!!!! Thank you for commenting!! I appreciate it.

Thank you Randi!!! I feel like I'm turning a corner today! I slept 12 hours and no pain medicine! So, I'm trying not to take any today. Just Tylenol. We shall see. I think if my head will clear I won't be so emotional. I believe my arms will be beautiful!! The doc told me that he had to "tack" my boob up inside!!!!! WHAT?????? So, that they didn't get pulled to the sides of my body. WHAT?????. He said they should soften and fall on their own. But if they don't he can just go in and snip the stitches....omg, WHAT???? I will keep you posted!!!

I hope you see my question. At day 3, were you able to wash your own hair? How in the world did you lift your arms up to do that? I have surgery at the end of September. Arms, breasts and TT. I'm not worried about the others, just the arms. And how the heck Im going to get my hair washed. I'm so independent, I don't want to ask for help. Ha ha.
User Avatar
August 18, 2021
That's a ton of procedures all at once....trust me...you are not gonna care one bit about your hair on day 3 but PLEASE make sure you have some help
User Avatar

I cannot even remember if it was day 3 or not but I know I didn't have help to wash my hair. It might have been several days. I have a shower chair and THAT is a lifesaver. You are having a lot of procedures at the same time. You will probably be OUT!!!! Take care and be EXCITED!!! It's so great AFTER we heal!!
