WORTH IT
My weight has been a struggle for most of my life. Consequently after losing weight (and keeping it off) I am left with saggy skin. My before pics will tell that story.
Dr. Chris Schaffer in the Birmingham, AL area was my surgeon and I had the arm lift done the same day as my tummy tuck. I've been very please it's the results and thankfully have experienced swelling in my arms or hands. I had no tubes in my arms, just for the tummy tuck. Went to my 4 week appointment last week and everything is healing great and I've started using scar cream. My arms scars aren't bad at all and the scar line is perfectly position so when my arms are down you can't see if from the front or the back. I have one small "dog ear" on my left are but I have been massaging it to break down the scar tissue and I have already notice a difference.I will be excited to wear something other than 3/4 sleeves or long sleeves all the time for spring and summer next year.

Fantastic results....I'm scheduled for Jan 6th....any helpful hints for recovery?

I had help for almost 2 weeks and that was great. Here are some things I got ahead of time: shower chair and a shelf I attached with a sticky strip to the tile so I could reach my soap/shampoo. I had lots of pillows - some for my reclining sofa to elevate my arms and for my bed. I only 5'4" so I got some collapsible small single step stools. I put on by my bed to get in easier, one for my closet and one for my kitchen. It takes 6-7 weeks before you can really stretch your arms so be patient and put the things you use most at waist level. I had 3 of the sleeve garments so I could rotate and have a clean one handy. Happy to answer any other questions. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

Thank you so much....how long did you sleep in my our recliner
October 21, 2020
The first 3-4 nights. I tried the bed but I'm not used to sleeping on my back so when I did get in bed I would usually wake up around 1-2 AM with my back hurting and go back to recliner. Did that for about 5-6 nights until I could stay in bed all night.

They went a few inches to my armpits. That part never hurt at all. Great time of year to do the surgery with the cooler weather.

I had arms (aka Bingo Arms) that would keep moving after I stopped moving. I had to wear size medium tops to account for their size. I would only wear long sleeve or 3/4 length sleeves (in Alabama - in the summer) just to hide them and the loose skin from losing weight. Getting this surgery (at the same time as my tummy tuck) was a dream come true.

That’s what I call my arms too!! Too funny. Glad you are healing well. They look great! I’m having mine done with a lower body lift in Nov and I’m excited with an underlying feeling of anxiety. I hope that’s normal. Lol.

I hope all goes well. I was glad I did this and a tummy tuck together. If I'm going to go through surgery and recovery, I wanted to do that just 1 time. I wanted this for so long but here was always that tiny bit of anxiety for me too.

They look really good! Did he have you do anything special (you feel) that was different from other doctors or arm lift reviewer on here? I want to be in the best shape and health before surgery so I can have an easier recovery. I also want to do the best and healthiest things after surgery and during recovery for the best outcome over all. Thanks!

He had the standards regarding what not to take before surgery. I am not a smoker but they still did a nicotine test that morning just before my surgery from a urine sample. I appreciate that they were adamant about that since it can really negatively affect your healing and results. I first saw I'm last November but wanted to get to m goal weight and ensure I would keep it off before undergoing. I made sure after surgery that I had plenty of protein and Vitamin C. I also was blessed to have my sister with me for 2 weeks and my pet sitter to do the walks for my 2 dogs. Here's a few things to have: shower seat, half moon pillow for under knees, a pouf shower back washer - works great for too, small step stools for getting into bed, kitchen cabinets and in closet - I had 4 so I didn't have to move them. Hope all goes well with your surgery!

I looked at your before pictures and thought, "how did that lady get pictures of MY arms." Hahahaha. I'm just 3 days out from my procedure. I haven't seen my arms yet. I'm almost scared to look. Eeek. I hope I like them.

This does seem like my hardest surgery so far. But, I do know patience is KEY!! I'm at why did I do this to myself. Lol

Pictures - as I recover

These were taken a couple days after surgery. Really didn’t have pain, just tightness and they felt sore. I followed Dr Schaffer’s post surgery instructions to ensure I get the best results.
