I'm posting this review based on my interactions...

I'm posting this review based on my interactions with the patient coordinator, I never spoke with Dr. Placik. Good staff is very important.

I contacted Dr. Placik's office via his webpage email requesting a quote and explaining the issue and what I wanted done. I offered to submit pics for assessment and stated that I understood I would still need to have a consultation prior to scheduling the procedure. I rec'd a reply from Traci Lucadello (patient coordinator) with pretty much the ins and outs of lipo etc etc etc, pretty much the same things we see on his website and everywhere else. At the end of the "generic filler" email it stated that she couldn't give me a quote because there were too many variables...(?),

Traci: "Do you want it performed in an office, surgicenter or in a hospital setting?
Do you want a nurse, a surgeon, or a Board Certified Anesthesiologist to perform anesthesia?
Do you want me to provide you with dressings & garments or do you want to buy them?
Depending on these factors, liposuction can range anywhere from $2000 up to $3750.00 Many other options are available and prices do vary accordingly." ***Mind you that it's just one small area... I provided the pictures. ***Why would I want a nurse to do the anesthesia?! I was admittedly confused and sent an email letting her know that the message was convoluted and was confused as to why I would want the nurse to do anything.

Reply: "Thank you for the reply. Most people appreciate the information and do not consider this "convoluted". Thank you for you inquiry. (Your words: "It is in fact one area"). You never specified one area. It is the neck abdomen, neck, bra strap, thigh, etc???.Local or general anesthesia?I am sure you can appreciate that's like saying what's the cost of painting a room? Is it a small room or a big room. That is why our last two sentences state: Depending on these factors, liposuction can range anywhere from $2000 up to $3750.00. Many other options are available and prices do vary accordingly."

***Many options are available? It's only getting a small area(?) And I did advice in email as to the location etc... I've never heard of anyone having this issue (buffalo hump) in "abdomen, neck, bra strap, thigh, etc." Honestly, this was very perplexing.

By now I was loosing interest in this... and advised that I had indeed sent all the details in order to receive a quote (pics had already been sent) and that I was looking for a quote as I already knew how lipo was done to which she replied:

"Thank you for the clarification. I am sorry that you find our information “combuluted”. Our office goal is to provide sufficient information for all patient inquiries. Perhaps you are more informed than others. Do you want microcannula multiple ports, PAL, UAL. RFAl, LAL or syringe technique? Would you prefer a hospital or surgicenter or office? Do you require IV prophylaxis for adrenal insufficiency due to your previous steroid treatment? Is your asthma resolved or does it require special peri-operative treatment or care in a facility that can manage a asthmatic attack? We don’t recommend local anesthesia. This would run approximately 5,000 but it requires a consultation to get a more accurate quote."

After all the nonsense I informed her that the responses to my simple request were ludicrous and unprofessional and so was passing on Placik. I'm sure Dr. Placik is a good surgeon, and it really is too bad because I'm planning on having a tummy tuck and had Dr. Placik in mind based on the results of a patient of his here on RS. I don't appreciate the run around and if this is so complicated I can just imagine how complicated it would be for the tummy tuck.

The fact is that I sent 4 requests with the same info and pics and had no problem getting the quotes. The pictures were very clear and local anesthesia was suggested since the area is small. There is no such thing as garments for this procedure, it's the back lower part of the neck. I've chosen the surgeon and thus far am pretty happy with the process. I was given a quote, which I find is more than reasonable, (less than 1/2 of what Traci "quoted" me) based on my pics etc and he even did a phone consultation where he explained this was a procedure he did regularly, was a simple, straight forward and that it didn't take too long to do. I have a face to face consultation in less than 2 weeks and am sure I won't be disappointed.
