I Got my Surgery 2 Days Ago!
wanted to leave a review on the real self website as this helped put me at ease before my surgery!
I did not tell anyone about my procedure and have kept it completely private so thought this would be a great way to have some support and help others.
Onto my experience so far…
Since my early teens my areolas have been a massive insecurity and something that has affected me in sexual relationships. After hitting a real low point I began to research online about the procedure. I went to 3 different surgeons before making my final decisions and I’m glad I did this… researching is important!
First surgeon quoted me 6000 pounds which was way out of my budget, second surgeon made me feel abit silly about my insecurity and would not allow me to attend the surgery alone, finally I met with a female surgeon who put me at ease and talked me through the treatment so thoroughly I knew she was the right option.
I was so nervous waking up today as I had nobody to reassure me but never the less I got up and went! The people in surgery put me at ease and were so kind.
I requested numbing cream for the local anaesthetic in which this was left on for 1 hour before treatment. When I went into surgery I had requested females only which brought a much more comforting experience (personal preference) the surgeon played music and put up a barrier so I could not see anything that was happening.
The part I was most scared about was the injections… I did not feel it even go in? The numbing cream had worked its magic and I was so relieved I enquired about this as the assistant told me it was not normal practice. Overall the surgery took around 50 minutes - 1 hour and was completely pain free. I was uncomfortable with the fact I was awake but the surgeon chatted to me and gave me a stress ball which helped. Overall only sensation was the pressure and the sounds/smells.
When I got up I felt very shakey but I have been assured this is normal response due to adreniline.
I am yet to see them but will be sure to post once I have took off my dressings in 48 hours.
I was 6.5cm originally and surgeon told me she was aiming for 4cm - any smaller may have caused complications.
Let me know if you have any questions !!
