I'm a 58 year old man. I'm reasonably fit, not overweight, but I had no "chin." Like many other people, I had a significant amount of excess skin/fat hanging under my chin along the length of my neck. Dr. Jason Bloom performed a neck lift with platysmaplasty, as well as bi-lateral lower lid blepharoplasty. It was close to 5 hours of surgery, and 10 days later, I look great. The swelling is coming down nicely, the eyes have practically healed completely, and aside from wearing the elastic compression wrap for a few more days, I'm good to go. I enthusiastically recommend Jason Bloom. He is an outstanding surgeon and I don't think it is possible for him to have been more available to me (via text/email/phone) in the 10 days since the surgery.

I'm glad you are so pleased! Thank you for sharing on RealSelf. What would you say the most difficult part of your recovery was?
I didn't have significant pain after surgery, so the most difficult part of recovery has been sleeping on my back with my head elevated and wearing the elastic wrap around my face at night. Two weeks later I'm still somewhat swollen under my ears and around my upper neck and I'm eager for that swelling to go down completely.
Are you still having to sleep on your back at two weeks out?
Sleeping with the elastic isn't particularly comfortable. My surgeon hasn't restricted my sleeping position, but all things considered, he'd prefer for my head to be elevated for another week while I'm still wearing the elastic wrap.
Yeah, no fun! I hope it's not too hot where you are right now.
