Bottoms put on
Its been one week since I got my bottom row of braces put on. I will say they were way more uncomfortable than the upper row. Definitely a adjustment. The swelling has finally gone down too!

Wow our teeth are sooo similar I can't believe it!! I've had Damon braces for 3.5 months now and my underbite/crossbite is nearly gone. My bottom teeth (which look so much like yours!) were first to show a lot of progress and my top teeth are moving but sooooooooo slowly. I can't tell if your top front teeth are as rotated as mine, but I know that I will feel like a new person when I no longer have a shadow in between my front teeth every time I smile! Best of luck with your treatment! You will see some big changes pretty quickly!

Curious: How are the bottom braces more uncomfortable than the top braces? Is it just in how they felt when they first went on?

Well I noticed a lot more swelling and friction against my bottom lips. Wax has been my best friend!

Congratulations on getting to do this for yourself! My husband did Damon for extreme crowding and had a great result, and now my eldest daughter (who is seven!) has Damon braces as well and has already had wonderful results (it goes very quickly for children). Do you have an underbite in addition to your crowding, or is that just to show us your teeth in the picture? Thank you for sharing, and I very much look forward to following your progress to your new, beautiful smile!!!
Oh! And if you have any questions about the site or anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'm the community manager and here to help :D.
Your reasoning was exactly the reason my husband chose Damon over all of that jaw cracking and stuff. He didn't get the perfect arch either, but it's much improved and he's extremely pleased.
And I think that it speaks well of you, as a medical professional, that you are taking care of your teeth! Teeth are important for overall health, and the fact that you are doing this now shows that you are caring for your health--as a medical professional should. People who have never had braces sometimes think of it as a purely cosmetic intervention, but it isn't. Those of us who have had orthodontic work know that overcrowded teeth and malpositioned jaws can cause all kinds of problems, from increased gingivitis and caries, to sleep apnea, chronic headaches, and tooth loss! You are doing the right thing for yourself!
Good luck with your extractions. I just got wisdom teeth removed and it went badly for me, but they were all impacted and I got dry sockets. Yours is likely to go much better than that :).
